Role Overview:

The Product Owner for Data Quality Application Development is responsible for defining the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery of enterprise data quality applications and capabilities. This includes building and enhancing data quality rules engines, monitoring frameworks, issue management workflows, metadata-driven automation, dashboards, and integrations with data governance and analytical platforms.

The Product Owner works closely with engineering, architecture, data stewards, governance teams, and business stakeholders to develop scalable, user-friendly data quality solutions that ensure trusted data across the organization.

 A successful applicant will need to demonstrate a validated history of technology led transformation, a willingness to explore new insights as solutions to problems via improved processes or better technology.

 Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Data Quality Application, ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance and analytics needs.
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into product features, user stories, and release plans.
  • Define and evolve product KPIs such as data accuracy, completeness, integrity, timeliness, issue resolution cycle time, and adoption metrics.
  • Drive the development of core capabilities: DQ rule builders, profiling tools, workflows, audit trails, dashboards, APIs, and integrations.
  • Lead the design and enhancement of data quality components such as:
    • Data quality rule engines
    • Automated profiling and anomaly detection
    • Data quality scorecards and dashboards
    • Issue and exception management workflows
    • Data quality monitoring and alerting
    • Metadata-driven rule configurations
    • Work with engineering to build scalable, reusable, and cloud-ready DQ services and UI modules.
  • Ensure the application supports both batch and real-time data quality processing.
  • Partner with data stewards, governance teams, and business owners to gather requirements and define acceptance criteria.
  • Work with engineering leads and architects on technical feasibility, API specifications, and solution design.
  • Collaborate with data platform, MDM, metadata, and analytics teams for seamless integration.
  • Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily standups, and UAT cycles.
  • Guide the build of self-service data quality functionality for non-technical users.
  • Improve user experience of rule development, workflow management, and issue remediation.
  • Promote standardization of data quality rules, definitions, and frameworks across systems.
  • Support automation of DQ rule deployment, versioning, logging, and lineage.
  • Ensure compliance, audit-readiness, and traceability in DQ operations.
  • Ownership of strategy, design, business requirements, feature and functionality tradeoffs and release schedule for a set of propositions, products or services.
  • Direct and influence cross-functional teams in order to ensure dependencies for proposition, product or service delivery are met
  • Engage with partners (TCT Product Managers, Content, etc) to feedback additional requirements to improve initial definitions by reviewing requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree along with knowledge of Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Data Quality/Engineering professional.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise data quality tools or custom DQ application development would be an added advantage
  • Working knowledge of data governance, metadata management, lineage, and data standards.
  • Strong understanding of distributed data platforms (SQL, cloud data warehouses, ETL pipelines).
  • Proficiency in writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and managing Agile backlogs
  • Ability to collaborate with virtual team across Development, Quality Assurance, Product Managers and Content Management to implement along strategic goals
  • Confirmed ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Ability to understand and apply technology to product development
  • Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to influence internal and external audiences, such as providing consultation and advice to senior Managers
  • Superior written skills, including experience writing comprehensive business and functional requirements
  • Strong analytical and prioritization skills
