Purpose Statement
The Principal Product Owner also known as Product Owner Lead, Digital Experience, APAC leads the vision, roadmap, and delivery of the data and metadata architecture layer that underpins APAC’s digital ecosystem. Reporting to the Head of Digital Experience, APAC, the role ensures trusted, governed, and interoperable data flows seamlessly across commercial platforms, workflow engines, analytics solutions, CRM, and enterprise systems to enable informed decision-making and digital transformation across the region.
As the product lead for master data, AI-ready metadata, and intelligent insights capabilities, this role drives the standardization and governance of key data domains while advancing metadata frameworks that support analytics, forecasting, segmentation, and AI-driven decision support. Partnering across Commercial Excellence, Commercial Operations, Data & Analytics, IT, Enterprise Architecture, and market stakeholders, the Principal Product Owner ensures APAC's data architecture delivers scalable insights, operational efficiency, and business value.
Responsibilities:
Product Ownership & Digital Architectural Roadmap
- Own and prioritize the APAC Master Data and Metadata product backlog and roadmap aligned to the regional digital architecture strategy.
- Translate commercial data strategy into clear user stories and scalable architectural design requirements.
- Deliver scalable data products (e.g. master data management tool, analytical tool) that integrate seamlessly into digital workflows.
- Ensure architectural consistency, usability, and interoperability across APAC markets.
Master Data & Governance
- Act as the Product Owner for designated commercial master data domains.
- Define golden record logic, hierarchies, survivorship rules, reference models, and cross-system data standards.
- Establish and maintain canonical data definitions and domain boundaries across platforms.
- Embed governance, stewardship, security, privacy, and control mechanisms into system and workflow design.
- Ensure master data structures support cross-platform integration and downstream analytics scalability.
AI-Ready Metadata & Analytics Enable
- Ensure datasets are architected, structured, documented, and standardized for advanced analytics and AI use.
- Drive semantic layer consistency, governed KPI definitions, lineage transparency, feature definitions, and data contracts across systems.
- Partner with data engineering, analytics, IT, commercial, and finance teams to ensure interoperability between source systems and model-ready data layers.
- Define structural requirements for AI-ready data products to support predictive modeling, automation, and insight generation.
Stakeholder Alignment & Adoption
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure architectural decisions align with business priorities.
- Lead prioritization across APAC markets based on architectural impact, business value, and risk mitigation.
- Define measurable KPIs and drive adoption, usage monitoring, and continuous improvement of data capabilities across digital platforms.
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance standards and regional privacy regulations.
- Proactively manage data quality risks, cross-platform dependencies, and structural inconsistencies.
- Safeguard architectural integrity by embedding governance standards into digital workflows to reduce downstream risk and technical debt.
- Identify architectural gaps and recommend structural improvements to enhance scalability and resilience.
What we are looking for
- 10 - 15 years of experience in Product Ownership, Data Product Management, Digital Platforms, or related data and technology leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, data modelling, metadata frameworks, semantic layers, and AI-ready data architectures.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML enablement, including the design of data foundations that support advanced analytics, automation, and AI-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead data products and platforms from strategy through execution, with strong prioritization and outcome-based decision making.
- Strong systems-thinking capabilities, with the ability to connect master data, metadata, analytics, and digital workflows across complex commercial ecosystems.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical and data concepts into clear business value for senior stakeholders.
- Experience identifying and scaling high-impact AI opportunities through effective data and metadata strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with a track record of partnering across Commercial, Data & Analytics, IT, Enterprise Architecture, and regional business teams.
- Effective change leader with experience driving adoption, governance, and accountability for enterprise data capabilities.
- Commercially astute, analytical, and focused on delivering measurable business outcomes.
- Regional or APAC experience preferred.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile product management certification preferred.
- Fluency in English required; additional Asian languages are advantageous.
