Global Product Owner Commercial Digital Channel

Country: Spain

Banco Santander is looking for a Global Product Owner Commercial Digital Channel to join our Retail & Commercial Banking division, based in our MADRID office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Strategic Product Vision: Articulate a comprehensive global product vision and strategy for the Commercial Digital Channel. Align this with gold standard definitions, market input, and a special focus on customer experience and needs. Develop strategies to transition from transactional digital banking to digital engagement, collaborating closely with other channels/products. Emphasize enhancing the onboarding platform for SME clients, fostering a culture of innovation and urgency within product teams. Ensure the product strategy aligns with business priorities across segments and countries, aiming for a unified UX across geographies. Expand the platform's capacity to accommodate a growing client base and ensure seamless integration with existing and new platforms.

  • Data-Driven Approach: Emphasize business intelligence to maximize client engagement and develop recommendations for the sales team (Next Best Conversation). Coordinate with data companies collaborating closely with the domain.

  • Define and Promote the Product Vision: Establish the product vision for the Commercial Digital Channel, ensuring a seamless and best-in-class experience across all digital touchpoints (app, web, public website). Align this vision with customer needs, global and local commercial business priorities, existing global technology platforms, and industry benchmarks. Collaborate with global and local stakeholders across Commercial, Technology & Operations (T&O), Data, and other relevant domains to promote the product vision.

  • Coordinate the Domain: Manage and prioritize global product features in the product roadmap, working closely with the Technical Product Manager (TPM). Oversee product squads, working with Local Product Owners and TPM. Define product epics with business requirements, manage continuous improvement, coordinate demand management, and prioritize backlogs and roadmaps. Build a high-performance team by attracting, retaining, and developing top talent while fostering a culture of client-centricity, ownership, and collaboration. Coordinate communication with senior management alongside Commercial team leadership.

  • Drive Agile Product Management: Implement agile product management strategies, with approximately 80% of features being global and 20% local. Balance autonomy and alignment, and prioritize the product roadmap based on business impact, standardization, and local adaptability.

  • Define and Track OKRs: Establish and continuously monitor Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to deliver meaningful business outcomes incrementally, such as improved customer experience and reduced cost-to-serve. Use product analytics and user feedback to iteratively refine and improve user experience, commonality, and simplicity.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in leading strategic implementations sustainably and innovatively, driving strategies and business service models to deliver exceptional customer value for SMEs.

  • Financial Services Expertise: Deep understanding of the financial services industry, with substantial experience in the fintech space. Familiarity with industry regulations, technological advancements, and competitive dynamics, enabling the formulation of innovative and compliant strategies.

  • Strategic Alignment: Proven track record in aligning digital product strategies with overarching business objectives. Anticipate market trends and understand customer preferences to ensure digital solutions meet current needs and position the business for future success. Contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years), and strategic (3-5 years) planning, ensuring alignment between product roadmaps and the overarching business strategy for SME growth and success.

  • Data Analytics: Experience in dealing with data and developing business intelligence solutions to support client engagement and guide sales functions.

  • Innovative Solutions: Extensive experience in leading the development and deployment of forward-thinking digital solutions. Enhance user experience and operational efficiency, leveraging technology to drive business transformation and customer satisfaction.

  • Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Ability to collaborate and establish relationships across over 13 geographies.

  • Agile Methodology Advocate: Champion agile methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and rapid delivery of products that meet market and SME customer demands.

  • Customer and Market Insight: Deep understanding of SME customer and market needs. Strategic thinking and collaborative skills to work with stakeholders—such as transformation leaders, segment managers, heads of retail in various countries, and technology teams—to achieve product and business objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Navigate the bank's organizational structure to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and collaborate across different departments and functions to support SME-focused initiatives.

  • Influence and Leadership: Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior international stakeholders, securing their support for transformative initiatives. Strong negotiation skills and the capacity to build consensus across diverse cultural and organizational contexts.

  • Resilience Under Pressure: Proven ability to perform under pressure in high-visibility, crisis situations. Adept at managing large-scale change and solving major challenges with sound judgment.
