This pivotal role sits at the intersection of product and operations, offering a unique opportunity to lead the strategic direction of Lyft's driver product and operations mapping priorities. You'll manage the data collection team, ensuring seamless support for all mapping initiatives across our rideshare business.
The data collection team is integral to a key program that both empowers drivers and facilitates the launch of features benefiting drivers, riders, and the business as a whole. This role reports directly to a Product Manager within the mapping organization.

We're seeking a dynamic leader who can drive impact and foster collaboration. You'll be someone who:

  • Drives Results: Provides essential product operations support, ensuring successful delivery and adoption of features for our drivers.
  • Connects Cross-Functionally: Builds strong relationships across Lyft Maps, preparing teams for the seamless scaling of new initiatives.
  • Influences Broadly: Works effortlessly with operations, product, engineering, legal, privacy & compliance, marketing, business development, contractors, and science teams.
  • Thinks Strategically: Leads program growth and global expansion, while meticulously managing costs and implementing operational efficiencies.
  • Champions Innovation: Identifies and advocates for opportunities to enhance the program through hardware investments, operational efficiencies, operations and engineering collaboration, and software upgrades.
Responsibilities:
  • Driving Product Operations & Improvement: Lead the execution of product operations, ensuring measurable results and continuous product enhancements. You'll serve as a subject matter expert, proactively identifying and addressing challenges while collaborating across product and support teams to ensure product/program success.
  • Strategic Operational Planning & Execution: Partner closely with product and engineering to support rapid experimentation and execution of new features. This includes strategically planning and executing operational rollouts for Lyft Maps in new international markets, ensuring cost-effective expansion and localized adaptation. You'll also develop comprehensive operational plans for complex product rollouts and oversee small-scale pilot phases.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment: Foster strong partnerships with UX Research, Engineering, and Product Managers to gather and synthesize user feedback. You'll act as a central knowledge hub, providing clarity on in-flight work, launches, and known issues, and ensuring key stakeholders understand new feature functionality.
  • Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Identify and implement significant operational efficiencies and cost-saving measures across all program activities, from data collection to daily operations. You'll leverage data and stakeholder feedback to drive process improvements that enhance cost, speed, and quality.
  • Innovation & Program Growth: Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for hardware investment, fostering seamless collaboration between operations and engineering teams, and prioritizing critical software upgrades. You'll be capable of expanding your scope from managing defined product groups to taking on broader areas of responsibility for wider product or operational programs.
  • Team Leadership & Accountability: Lead, manage, and scale hardware operations efficiently and proactively, including robust vendor management. You'll champion the identification and elimination of waste, holding yourself and the team to a high standard for shared outcomes.
  • Communication & Data Synthesis: Distill complex quantitative and qualitative data from the program and the driver community into clear, singular narratives that inform product development. You'll establish processes for regular communication and prioritization meetings between support teams and Product Managers.
  • Budget Management: Create and manage the annual budget for the program.
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5+ years of experience in project management, product development, or operations.
  • Metrics-driven with the ability to identify, analyze, and act on business trends.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and proactively resolve roadblocks.
  • Familiarity with technology and a track record of cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, program management, and legal teams.
  • Skilled in creating and managing project plans, governance, and forums for large-scale, multi-team programs.
  • Adept at leading and managing weekly meetings to advance program goals and KPIs.
  • Experience mentoring and leading contractors supporting program operations.
  • Comfortable testing hardware products and occasionally driving as a Lyft driver for product/hardware testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, utilizing root cause analysis to unblock team members and maintain program health.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to plan, influence, and strategize program direction.
  • Deep operational understanding with the ability to translate real-world insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Passionate about the Lyft community and the sharing economy.
  • Possesses a "roll up your sleeves" attitude – no task is too small.
  • Must be able to work independently on a Pacific/Mountain or Eastern time schedule.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $88,000 - $110,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
