Job Description

As a Product Manager at NCS Australia, you will lead the strategic delivery of mission-critical software for our enterprise clients. This role sits at the intersection of high-level technology consulting and large-scale physical engineering. You are responsible for overseeing the development and integration of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)—the "digital brain" that manages traffic flow, commuter safety, and emergency responses across major motorway networks. Your mission is to take complex, high-stakes operational requirements and translate them into a high-performance product roadmap that keeps a modern city moving.

In this consultancy-led environment, you will act as a key advisor and partner to the client, ensuring that the software solutions we build are not only technically sound but also align with rigorous government standards and safety-integrity levels. You will lead cross-functional engineering teams through the entire lifecycle—from initial discovery and backlog prioritization to on-site commissioning and final testing. Because these systems are live, safety-critical environments, you will manage the delicate balance between rapid digital innovation and the high-reliability demands of public infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • The Strategic Consultant: You have hands on experience in Product Management within a technology consultancy or a complex industrial sector (such as Transport, Utilities, or Government). You thrive on managing client relationships and navigating multi-stakeholder environments.

  • The Systems Thinker: You possess a deep understanding of how software interacts with the physical world. Experience with IoT, SCADA, or Smart Infrastructure is highly regarded, as is the ability to understand complex traffic management logic.

  • The Technical Translator: You can take a 200-page government specification or a complex civil engineering brief and distill it into clear, actionable user stories for a development team without losing the "big picture" intent.

  • The Agile Leader: You are a master of the Product Manager’s toolkit (Jira, Confluence, and Roadmapping tools) and have a proven track record of managing backlogs in environments where project milestones and product vision must coexist.

  • The Quality Advocate: You understand that "safety-critical" means there is no room for error. You have an eye for detail and a commitment to rigorous testing, ensuring every feature meets the highest standards of reliability.

  • The Effective Communicator: You have the "wit" and professional presence to present complex roadmaps to executive-level stakeholders while remaining grounded enough to work through technical blockers with your developers.
