As demand for phone number verification surges due to digitalization and global smartphone adoption, many telecommunication companies have responded by increasing prices to unsustainable levels for the current SMS solution. On top of this, fraudulent players are attacking both end users and the value chain.
Now is the time to revolutionize verification with cutting-edge, next-generation Verify Number solutions. The market is also actively looking for additional verification solutions offered by telcos, such as verification of a user’s location, KYC (Know Your Customer) information, SIM Swap, Age, Tenure, and more.
Opportunity for global impact
As our new Product Manager/Product Manager for Telco Verification, your role would be to lead our efforts in creating a trustworthy and scalable portfolio of verification products, including defining the product and platform, deciding product priorities and guiding development.
We are uniquely positioned to build and scale our solutions to a global footprint through strategic partnerships with global leaders like Google and Meta. The first pilot of a next-generation number verification solution is already tested, and we are ready to grow. With success on this journey, our ambition is to help hundreds of millions of people have more seamless and secure digital user journeys.
What are the essential functions and areas of ownership?
In short – build a world-class portfolio of Verification products – supported by Telenor’s reach and attractiveness in the global telecom market.
- Strategic leadership
- Stakeholder management across product, customer success, sales, and our partners, including on the executive level
- Strategy – the ability to stake out and clearly communicate a direction
- Expert on customer needs & market insight in the Verification space
- Participate in industry fora to understand development and convey Telenor Linx’s positions
- Product Development and Innovation
- Leading product development internally and with partners
- Working closely with a skilled team of engineers to develop the product
- Owner of product roadmap
- Operational Excellence
- P&L owner for the product(s)
- Report on KPIs and business metrics
- Contract templates, business models, and pricing
- Budgeting, financial forecasting, and setting targets
- Support sales, partnership, and customer success teams
The position will initially not have managerial responsibility but will be key in setting the direction for the deliverables of our customer success team, sales team, and relevant products and engineering resources.
What you bring:
- B.A/B.S. or M.S./MBA in Industrial Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship/Product Development, Telecommunications, Computer Science with interest in business, or equivalent degree or experience
- Strong decision-making, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Good understanding of the telco backbone and telco data, such as telco signaling, diameter protocol, and BSS/OSS.
- 5+ years’ experience developing products, strategies, partnerships, and have an eye for innovation.
- Experience in Software as a Service, business development, understanding of APIs, and a technology interest will also help you succeed.
- Familiarity with industry standards and fora for telco verification, such as CAMARA and the SMA Open Gateway Initiative, is a plus.
