Reports to: Vice President of Product and UX

Location: Cottonwood Heights, Utah (Hybrid - 3x/week in-office)

About the Role

Backcountry's services business — ski and snowboard mounting and tuning, bike protection film, mobile bike service — is already substantial and one of the fastest-growing parts of the company, with a major expansion planned for 2027. As Product Manager, Services and App, you will own the product experience that makes that growth possible, from discovery and booking through post-service follow-up.

You will also own the Backcountry mobile app, building it from a convenience feature into a meaningful revenue channel. At six to twelve months, success looks like services growth clearly ahead of plan, a booking experience that is easy to find and easy to buy, and an app customers keep coming back to.

This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.

What You'll Do

    Services (Primary Focus)
  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and execution for the services business covering discovery, scheduling, pricing, payment, status updates, and post-service follow-up.
  • Build the attach path so a customer buying skis, a bike, or a board is offered the right service at the right moment online, in the app, and in store.
  • Treat scheduling and capacity as product problems: appointment availability, technician capacity, turnaround times, and what customers see when capacity is booked out.
  • Partner with shop teams, technicians, and mobile service operations so that what you sell online can be delivered on time and at quality.
  • Support expansion of services into new categories, new markets, and new delivery models building experiences that scale rather than one-off solutions.
  • Define the services funnel, the metrics behind it, and the levers that drive growth.
  • Backcountry App
  • Own the app roadmap after launch, including retention, engagement, app-exclusive experiences, notifications, lifecycle messaging, and the release cadence.
  • Grow the app from a convenience for existing customers into a channel that drives meaningful incremental revenue.
  • Work with the app platform partner and engineering to ship quickly without compromising quality or store review standing.
  • Across the Role
  • Define success metrics for every initiative, instrument them properly, and use experimentation and data to decide what to build next.
  • Take on additional high-impact product work as company priorities shift.
  • Partner across engineering, design, merchandising, marketing, analytics, retail, and operations to turn business goals into shipped product.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of product management experience.
  • Experience with a product tied to real-world operations — services, bookings, scheduling, appointments, fulfillment, or a marketplace with supply constraints.
  • Experience owning a consumer mobile app or a commerce product with a meaningful mobile surface, including familiarity with retention and engagement metrics and app release cycles.
  • Demonstrated revenue or conversion impact with measurable results.
  • Strong analytical and experimentation skills, with experience using GA4, Looker, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Ability to ship iteratively and maintain momentum through rapid release cycles.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, including field and shop teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools within product workflows — pulling live context from project and documentation tools, prototyping instead of slide-decking, and automating repetitive work.
  • Experience scaling a services or attach revenue stream alongside a core product business.
  • Experience working with technicians, installers, or a mobile workforce.
  • Experience with mobile lifecycle messaging and push notification strategy.
  • Background in outdoor, snowsports, cycling, or powersports retail.

Why Join

The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.

  • Cross-Functional Impact: Services is one of the biggest bets the company is making, and this role owns the product side of it — your work touches engineering, retail operations, marketing, and merchandising.
  • Build, Not Maintain: The app is early and services are expanding. You are shaping both while the decisions are still open, with AI-first tooling that accelerates prototyping and execution.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Own the full product lifecycle for two strategic surfaces — from vision and roadmap through instrumentation and results.
  • Competitive Benefits: Paid time off policies, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision and a variety of supplemental policies, and employee discounts across our portfolio of brands.
