The Role

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. To do this, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization.

Lyft’s Mapping team builds and operates a mapping platform that powers Rideshare-specific experiences – everything from offering Riders accurate pricing and ETAs to navigating Drivers safely and efficiently from pickup to dropoff. This role is focused on the critical interface between Mapping and Marketplace, where billions of API calls daily to Mapping services power every aspect of our realtime marketplace that dynamically matches riders and drivers 24/7. In this role you will dive into driver pay and rider pricing, understanding the nuances of how routing, ETAs, and regional tolls impact these financial levers and partner with Driver and Rider teams to reimagine how our users engage with these Mapping-powered inputs. You will immerse yourself in data to discern the many ways location data is used (and misused) throughout the ride journey and collaborate with our internal Integrity teams to launch features that creatively combat abuse and location fraud on the Lyft platform. You will design and launch features that bring together dependencies across multiple Mapping subteams including Map Data, Localization, Routing, and ETA. You will become an expert at using our internal Map Tooling and verbatim driver/rider feedback to derive customer insights and translate those into product roadmaps. And most importantly you are customer obsessed and excited about understanding how our product works from the inside out but also from the outside in by dogfooding the product as a Lyft Rider and a Lyft Driver. In this role on the Mapping team, you will tackle all of these challenges and more, with end to end ownership over a wide range of Mapping/Marketplace experiences from data quality to backend services to frontend app UX. This role has the potential to positively impact millions of Riders and Drivers every day by ensuring a seamless and safe ride experience for every ride.

  • Clearly communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments, and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from partner teams to executive levels

Experience:
  • 4+ years of product management experience, ideally consumer-facing
  • Demonstrated experience using data-driven insights and user research to build better products
  • Have shipped products in deeply technical & analytical domains - able to use data and experimentation to guide a large cross-functional team towards a long-term vision
  • Prior experience or training in technical roles (including data science or software development) is a strong plus
  • Prior experience in mapping, routing, logistics, or gig economy industries is a strong plus
