Job Description Qualifications:
This position is part of the rapidly growing EO/IR Mission Systems (EMS) team within BR&T. The EMS team has more than quadrupled in size over the past 18 months due to new contract wins and continues to see increased demand from Boeing's customers. We're designing, building, and testing cutting edge sensor systems for airborne and space platforms. Our focus is always on the mission – connecting people through safer air travel and protection of the warfighter from its adversaries. This isn't your typical Boeing team – we are focused on the entire lifecycle of design: from modeling and simulation of new ideas, through prototype demonstrations, and eventually transitioning to production systems. Our team provides complete engineering solutions to Boeing and its customers, including systems engineering, optics design, mechanical design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, electronics, and advanced system modeling and simulations. We are seeking a Lead or Senior Product IPT Engineer in Huntington Beach, CA with experience in the development of mission systems for space and airborne platforms. Responsibilities will include leading the systems engineering from requirements to verification/validation as well as support of project engineering/management activities.
Candidates should have experience with all phases of development, including creation and tracking of requirements as well as development and execution of test and verification plans. Candidates should also have project management experience and both the ability to lead a team as well as extensive experience in performing engineering work.
Position Responsibilities:

Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

Perform systems engineering for entire lifecycle of the product from ConOps/requirements definition to verification and validation testing and delivery

Support project management activities including schedule development, status reporting and coordination of engineering and development activities

Interface with customers, internal/external suppliers and partners and executive management for the purpose of technical collaboration, reviews and reporting of status

Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

Leads and coordinates analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, software configuration management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

Plans and leads research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite the listed location.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

10+ years of experience in technical leadership
-
10+ years of experience in systems engineering
-
5+ years of experience in project engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

20+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform

Experience writing requirements for electrical/electronic, software and firmware systems

Experience development electronic products for space-based applications

Experience writing board level requirement specifications for Printed Wiring Board (PWB) and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA)

Experience developing architectures and writing requirements for software and firmware systems

Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML and Cameo

Experience providing systems engineering for research and development contracts
-
Experience as a chief engineer or systems engineering IPT lead with software avionics/avionics/electrical design

Experience developing avionics for airborne and space applications

Active U.S. Top Secret / SSBI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).
Typical Education/Experience:
Lead (Level 4):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 5):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for lead: $128,650 – $173,650
Summary pay range for senior: $157,250 – $212,750
