General Nature of the Job:

This customer facing position allows the Project Engineer to perform engineering work relative to, but not limited to, product applications, product improvement and new product development through the eyes of the end user. This position will be a technical/commercial resource to provide support to the Product Manager, Inside Sales Team, Outside Sales Managers and internal/external customers. Functioning in a variety of Product/Process Engineering and Commercial roles to support current product lines, and/or new product development, the Project Engineer will participate as a cross-functional team member in pursuing assigned product related initiatives to a successful and timely conclusion. Works in concert with the Product Manager to increase sales and profitability.

Engineering Essential Functions:

  1. Generates, reviews, and analyzes design input requirements to assist in developing the necessary information to review and analyze potential projects or orders.
  2. Develops and maintains engineering documentation for assigned product lines.
  3. Works with all departments to maintain product design integrity, quality, and cost competitiveness.
  4. Ability to develop drawings and outlines necessary for completion of assignments.
  5. Coordinates Engineering and Manufacturing quality improvements, cost reductions and standardization.
  6. Working with and/or visiting supplier/vendors (product specifications)

Commercial Essential Functions:

  1. Analyzes the current and projected market conditions through targeted market investigations; recommends short/long term marketing objectives.
  2. Continually evaluates competitive conditions, technical advances, and market potentials.
  3. Consults various departments regarding product development, service recommendations, product test results, customer complaints, inspection methods and costs of new product development in relation to sales potential.
  4. Transmits new products into sales programs and develops content for product information.
  5. Develops and conducts training programs on an individual or group basis.
  6. Leads new product design and development projects, and technical information for launch of new products.
  7. Assists Product Management to establish product requirements and project plans for approved projects.
  8. Active participant in all aspects of product development: concept to commercialization.

General Product Support Functions:

  1. Provides advice and technical information to customers and sales personnel in matters pertaining to applications.
  2. Assists customers as required for satisfactory product performance.
  3. Visits customers' facilities as required.
  4. Prepares associated product configuration requests for customer quotations.
  5. Perform contract review including customer drawings considering product line capabilities.
  6. Analyze field samples and report back to initiator of request.

Position requires frequent contacts with Personnel from many disciplines, i.e., Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality Control, Inside/Outside Sales, Channel Partners, End Users and Management Team.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  2. Responsible for maintaining controls related to ISO Design and Development requirements.
  3. Responsible for maintaining controls related to Sarbanes-Oxley.

Job Specifications:

  1. BS degree in an Engineering discipline, with 3+ years applications experience or equivalent experience/knowledge.
  2. Experience in engineering procedures, and product commercialization a plus.
  3. Experience in Food, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Markets a plus.
  4. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks (a must)
  5. Organizational/Communication Skills
