Position Summary
Responsible for leading engineering design and new product development for assigned product lines. Ensures products meet requirements for safety, performance, reliability, manufacturability, maintainability, quality, and cost. Manages projects from concept through production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, market-driven solutions.
- Design, develop, and improve new and existing products using SolidWorks and related engineering tools.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and product specifications.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing documentation, and work instructions.
- Generate preliminary cost estimates and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Lead multiple product development projects simultaneously, managing timelines, priorities, and critical path activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve production issues and improve product quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and testing to validate designs and ensure compliance with performance requirements.
- Monitor product performance in the field and implement design improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and profitability.
- Provide technical support to Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Production, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review and approve design changes, engineering documentation, and product revisions.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineers, designers, and other cross-functional team members.
Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong mechanical design background.
- Minimum 5 years of advanced SolidWorks experience, including parametric modeling, bottom-up design methodologies, assembly modeling, and drawing creation.
- Strong ability to create and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment and reverse engineering techniques.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, metal fabrication, sheet metal, assembly, and production tooling.
- Experience designing for manufacturability (DFM), serviceability, quality, and cost optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative and practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, production, supply chain, and vendor partners.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Advanced SolidWorks experience, including surface modeling and sheet metal design.
- Experience with welding processes, tooling design, fixtures, and fabrication practices.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems design and troubleshooting.
- Experience with electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and basic electronics integration.
- Experience supporting new product development, product improvement initiatives, and production launches.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
- Strong understanding of machine design, structural systems, mechanisms, and heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, welding, assembly processes, and manufacturing operations.
- Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and machine control systems preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD design using SolidWorks.
- Proven ability to take products from concept through design, validation, and production.
