About the role
This role presents a unique opportunity for an engineer who wants to solve problems in climate change that are affecting people right now. Our SREC aggregation software plays a vital role in the economics of the clean energy transition.
We need an engineer with both software and product design skills to lead the implementation of our customer-facing product. You’re a maverick, a jack-of-all. You rapidly learn new frameworks and toolkits to get amazing things built. The role requires the skills to be able to architect and build sophisticated front-end applications with low-code tools. You have passion for great UX, a discerning design aesthetic, and a drive to execute rapidly so your work can delight users.
To build out our customer-facing web product, you’ll be in a hybrid architecture comprising a modern API-based services backend integrated with one or more low-code platforms. You’ll write JavaScript (or contract help) to augment functionality not achievable with low-code tools. You’ll have a key stake in our product, informing its design and feature roadmap. You’ll be constantly improving our product and adding functionality weekly, often daily. In coordination with our product manager, you’ll be expected to work directly with users and partners to ensure we’re building the exact right thing. You won’t be starting from scratch, but as the lead engineer of our front end, you’ll be in control of an evolving and dynamic architecture. You’ll work closely with all members of the team in a highly collaborative setting. This is a critical role in our growing business—it’s fun, fast, challenging, and the rewards roll in daily!

Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree is required
- Minimum of three (3) years building websites with significant UX requirements
- Proficient in Javascript is required
- Experience with integrating API services
- Exposure to developing mobile apps
Location and Hybrid Work
Sun Tribe’s HQ is in Charlottesville, VA on the historic downtown mall. Our team is based both in Charlottesville and Richmond, and we’re open to candidates within a few hours of Charlottesville.
Ideally, you are nearby or willing to relocate to Charlottesville. Otherwise, you’d be expected to be in the office, at most, 2-3 days per week during the first 3-6 months for onboarding and once weekly thereafter, with some weeks not at all.

Salary & Benefits
Expected salary range: $120,000-135,000, commensurate with experience.
