Develop and improve automotive sunroof modules and roof systems. Oversee engineering changes, support design of experiments, DFM/DFA analysis, testing, cost reduction, root-cause investigations, and manufacturing quality issues. As a Product Engineer at Inalfa Roof Systems, you are in the driver's seat for developing improved or new designs for automotive sunroof modules and roof systems, directing building, modification, and testing of products, and ensuring the product design meets all customer and Inalfa Roof Systems specifications.

Reports To:                  Director of Manufacturing Engineering

FLSA status:                Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.   Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the engineering change process
  • Support all DOE activities
  • Work with manufacturing engineering on DFM/DFA analysis
  • Support manufacturing and quality with plant build issues and root cause analysis
  • Update DFMEA’s as required
  • Ensure SPV testing performed as required, results and actions communicated to organization
  • Support cost reduction activities as appropriate
  • Support Purchasing and SQA with technical input in to supply base issues
  • Support plant liaisons with technical input in to customer assembly plant issues
  • Support CIP activities as appropriate
  • Support all Kaizen activities as appropriate
  • Utilize appropriate CAD system, access and make minor updates to drawings

IATF 16949/ ISO14001 / ISO 45001 RESPONSIBILITIES:

The IATF16949and ISO14001 responsibilities listed below are required for this position.  Adhere to all IATF16949 (Quality) / ISO14001 (Environmental) / ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) procedures as related to the operations department function.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelors’ degree or equivalent; or 2 to 5 years of automotive experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.   Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.   Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.   Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.   Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
