Product Director - Special Projects
Role Summary
The Product Director - Special Projects is a senior product leadership role focused on shaping the next generation of solutions across our Identity and Trusted Payments product lines. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Product and Data, this role will work across product, engineering, external technology partners and the market to find opportunities, define strategic direction and translate emerging needs into compelling product propositions and delivery roadmaps.
This role requires a strong blend of strategic product leadership and technical credibility. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and a clear understanding of emerging technologies, including Gen AI and adjacent innovation trends, enabling them to engage deeply with engineering teams, understand platform and architecture considerations, assess technical feasibility and help shape product direction in areas where technology innovation is central to market success.
The role combines strategic thinking, market insight and cross-functional leadership. It is intended for an experienced product leader who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence senior stakeholders and bring together internal and external perspectives to create differentiated, scalable products.
Key Responsibilities
Lead special projects focused on the future evolution of the Identity and Trusted Payments product portfolios.
Partner closely with Product Leads to define strategic priorities, explore new opportunities and shape the long-term product roadmap.
Work with engineering leadership and teams to assess technical feasibility, accelerate innovation and align product ambition with delivery reality.
Engage key technology partners to identify emerging capabilities, co-innovation opportunities and strategic partnership models.
Bring an informed perspective on emerging technologies, including Gen AI, data-driven product capabilities, automation and platform innovation, and assess how these can be applied to customer and market needs.
Monitor market developments, customer needs, competitive activity and regulatory or ecosystem shifts relevant to Identity and Trusted Payments.
Develop product concepts, business cases and strategic recommendations for new or enhanced products and capabilities.
Drive cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, commercial and partner teams to move initiatives from idea through validation and into execution.
Act as a senior thought partner to leadership on product strategy, innovation priorities and investment decisions in this space.
Ensure that opportunities are grounded in clear customer value, commercial potential and strategic fit.
Key Deliverables
Strategic product proposals and recommendations for next-generation Identity and Trusted Payments offerings.
Market-informed product concepts, including target use cases, value propositions and prioritised feature direction.
Business cases and investment rationale for new product initiatives.
Partnership strategies and joint opportunity plans with key technology providers.
Cross-functional plans that support transition from concept development into product delivery.
Candidate Profile
Significant experience in product leadership, product strategy or innovation roles, ideally within payments, digital identity, fraud, trust, authentication or adjacent fintech domains.
Strong technical knowledge, with the ability to engage credibly on architecture, platforms, integrations, data flows and technical trade-offs.
Experience of working with emerging technologies, including Gen AI, and the ability to identify practical, commercially relevant applications for these technologies within product strategy and development.
Proven ability to work closely with engineering teams and translate technical possibilities and constraints into product strategy and execution.
Strong understanding of the market landscape, customer problems and technology trends shaping Identity and Trusted Payments.
Ability to work across product, engineering and commercial functions to define and deliver complex initiatives.
Experience engaging and influencing senior external partners, including technology providers and ecosystem participants.
Strong strategic, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to turn ambiguity into clear direction and action.
Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment, balancing long-term vision with pragmatic execution.
Credible senior stakeholder manager with the ability to challenge constructively and build alignment.
