Education Perfect offers a suite of products designed to empower educators and amplify their impact in the classroom. We aim to enable teachers to personalise learning at scale with a range of powerful learning, assessment, and insights tools, helping them and their students reach their full potential. As an EPeep, you’ll work on projects that have a real impact on students' lives and have the freedom, support and resources you need to develop your skills and grow your career.

We’re looking for someone special to join our Essential Assessment (EA) team as a Product Designer for a 12 month fixed term contract. EA is our Primary Numeracy and Literacy assessment platform loved by close to 3000 schools across Australia.

In this role, you’ll shape experiences that genuinely matter for teachers and students. You’ll lead user research to uncover real challenges and opportunities and turn those insights into simple, thoughtful designs that make our product a joy to use. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering and key stakeholders, bringing strong communication, collaboration and craft to every stage of the design process. If you’re passionate about user-centred design, motivated by impact and energised by the education space, we’d love to hear from you.

What you will do

  • Advocate for the end user: You will deeply understand our Essential Assessment customers’ needs, perspectives and goals by visiting schools and talking to customers regularly, getting involved in research initiatives and running your own evaluative testing. You will use design methods like personas & journey maps to build a shared understanding of the customer with our team. Your genuine interest in education will help you build an understanding of how and why educators use and love our product.
  • Design solutions across our product experience: Collaborate with key stakeholders to balance customer problems with business goals and technical constraints, and utilise your design skills across research, user experience, interaction, and visual design to design elegant and workable solutions. You will also take a collaborative and iterative approach to make existing solutions stronger.
  • Work closely with our engineers: Provide clear and detailed documentation, including user flows, interactive prototypes and wireframes. Help resolve usability issues that arise during development, and ensure the final product aligns with the initial design vision.

About you

  • Experience with Design Systems: Developing a component library, establishing design guidelines and principles and ensuring consistency across products
  • At least 3 years of design experience: Experience as a product designer, working with sophisticated, modern cloud software (experience with Figma would be desirable). Experience with legacy code bases would be desirable
  • Experience and confidence in independently conducting user research: Using both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Breadth of skills across the design process: This includes experience with carrying out product discovery, confidence in visualising and prototyping design concepts to quickly communicate and iterate on ideas with stakeholders and delivering detailed solutions
  • Excellent communication skills: A love of collaboration & the ability to effectively communicate thoughts and findings with other teammates and customers
  • Outstanding attention to detail: and a deep-seated commitment to quality
  • Data-informed decision-making: Skilled in seeking out and interpreting the right data to make decisions
  • Experience with EdTech would be highly desirable or a genuine interest in education

Equitable opportunities, growth, and development lie at the heart of how we work at EP. We understand that not all applicants may possess all the following attributes so if you think you have what it takes, but are not sure you check every box, we would love to still hear from you!

What we offer

  • Christmas Shutdown Leave: Enjoy a full company shutdown during the week of Christmas, with 3 extra days of paid leave to bridge any non-public holidays
  • Volunteer Day: All EPeeps receive one paid day per year to volunteer and give back to their communities
  • Employee Assistance Program: Access 24/7 confidential support via Sonder for mental health, safety and medical needs - available globally and fully funded by EP
