Product Designer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to join our R&D team. You will be responsible for defining the functions of AI-driven robotic products/systems or AI and Robot-centric solutions for our customer. This role is critically important to the success of our vision and mission in the AI and Robotics-driven industry.

The ideal candidate will have experience or deep understanding about a broader picture of the interaction among human users, environment, and machines. You will bridge the gap between hardware and software to create seamless, intuitive, and human-centered products. in designing robotic systems, logics of interactions, coordination of multi-systems, and product hardware/software, with a strong focus on enhancing user experience through coordinated multi-modal interfaces and product ecosystems. This role will involve close collaboration with hardware engineers, software developers, and interface designers to drive the development of user-friendly interaction and experiences for our customers.

The R&D team consists of a diverse group of talented researchers and engineers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in production applications and will collaborate closely with the team to develop and deliver the latest cutting-edge AI robotic ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and integration of high-level hardware/software AI robotic products, ensuring that all components align with the overall product vision.
• Develop intuitive and engaging interaction designs for robotic systems, focusing on natural, responsive, and delightful user experiences.
• Create and refine user interfaces specifically for robot platforms, optimizing for ease of use, accessibility, and emotional engagement.
• Work closely with product managers, engineers, and software teams to deliver a cohesive and high-quality product experience that merges both hardware and software elements.
• Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate design concepts to validate and improve product functionality and user interaction.
• Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviors, and feedback, incorporating insights into design improvements and adjustments.
• Create detailed design documentation, specifications, and guidelines to ensure consistency and feasibility in implementation. Participate in the development of system-level requirements and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Track the state-of-the-art technology and conduct frontier R&D.
• Travel domestically and internationally for internal meetings, external technical discussions, conferences, and partner engagements.
• Other duties may be required from time to time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Robot Interaction, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in product design with a focus on hardware/software integration and/or robotics.
• Strong portfolio showcasing interactive design, product ecosystems, and robot interface projects.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar.
• Experience with prototyping tools and rapid prototyping methodologies.
• Familiarity with software development processes, hardware constraints, and human-robot interaction principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a user-centered approach to design.
• Strong communication skills and experience working within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong self-motivated in pushing the boundary and state-of-the-art of AI and robotics product design and development. 
• Proven successful experience and skills in working in a dynamic and very challenging industry
• Strong experience working with robotics systems and hardware integration.
• Knowledge of programming languages or development tools that support interaction design (e.g., Python, JavaScript, ROS).
• Familiarity with user research methods, such as usability testing, surveys, and A/B testing.
