GigSafe is a contractor management platform built for gig and last-mile delivery operations. We are building infrastructure for the future of 1099 work that helps companies verify, manage, and pay independent contractors at scale.
The 1099 economy is the fastest-growing segment of the American workforce, and it's been running on duct tape and spreadsheets. A credentialing gap or an uninsured worker is a serious liability that can shut down a business.
This is a big problem. A large market. And we're early. Come build with us. For more information, visit gigsafe.com
Role OverviewWe are looking for a Product Designer to turn defined product requirements into flows, wireframes, and production-ready interfaces. You will be the design partner to our Product and Engineering teams, taking problems that arrive as specs and operational constraints and shipping the screens contractors, fleet operators, and compliance teams use every day.
This role is execution-focused by design. You won't be asked to set product strategy, but you will be expected to move quickly, make sound interaction decisions on your own, and produce work that engineers can build from without a long back-and-forth. We expect you to use AI tools as part of your normal workflow – for concepting, prototyping, and production UI.
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Product, working alongside a small, fast-moving team.
ResponsibilitiesTranslate product requirements into user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity interfaces ready for engineering handoff.
Build clickable prototypes quickly – using AI-assisted tooling wherever it speeds you up – so flows can be tested and decisions made before engineering time is spent.
Design for complex, data-dense workflows: onboarding queues, document and credential review, compliance status, exception handling, and admin tooling.
Maintain and extend GigSafe's component library and design standards so the product stays consistent as it grows.
Partner daily with Product and Engineering to scope what's feasible, pressure-test edge cases, and stay involved through implementation and QA.
Prepare specs, states, and assets — empty, loading, error, and permission states included — so engineers aren't guessing.
Run lightweight usability checks with internal operations staff and customers, and fold what you learn back into the designs.
Support marketing and sales with in-product screens and visuals when needed.
5-8 years of UX/UI or product design experience, with a portfolio of shipped software, not concept work.
Demonstrated fluency with AI design and prototyping tools as part of your everyday workflow. Be ready to walk us through how you used them on real work and what you produced faster because of it.
Strong interaction and visual craft: you can take a rough requirement to a clean, consistent, buildable screen without heavy art direction.
Experience designing for web and mobile applications with operational complexity – dashboards, queues, tables, forms, multi-step workflows.
Comfortable working from written specs and asking sharp questions when they're incomplete.
Strong in Figma (components, variants, auto layout). If you came up in Sketch, Framer, or Penpot, tell us why. We care that you can pick up our stack quickly.
Ability to manage several concurrent workstreams and ship on a regular cadence without heavy process.
You can clearly explain a design decision to an engineer or non-designer.
Experience in gig economy, contractor management, workforce, logistics, or other B2B operational software.
Prototyping in code (HTML/CSS, React, or AI-assisted code generation) to get closer to a real, testable artifact.
Experience building or maintaining a design system from scratch.
Familiarity with compliance-heavy or document-review interfaces.
Startup experience, especially as an early or sole designer.

What We Do
GigSafe gives companies the tools they need to onboard, pay, and stay on top of compliance for their independent contractor (IC) network—all in one place. We work with gig platforms, delivery services, home-service companies, staffing groups, dispatch operations, and any business that depends on a distributed 1099 workforce. Most teams today are stuck juggling a mess of systems: one tool for onboarding, another for compliance, another for payments, another for insurance—and endless spreadsheets in between. It’s slow, manual, and easy for things to fall through the cracks. Contractors feel it too: confusing requirements, repeated paperwork, and delays that keep them from getting to work. GigSafe brings everything together in one simple platform. We automate onboarding, collect and verify documents, keep an eye on ongoing compliance, and sync data wherever it needs to go. We also streamline payments and consolidate reporting so companies always know exactly where things stand with every contractor. Insurance is part of the picture, but it isn’t the whole story. Our platform helps companies track coverage, manage certificates, and meet requirements automatically—without chasing paperwork or relying on manual checks. For contractors, that means a cleaner, clearer experience that gets them up and running faster. Our goal is to make it easier for companies and contractors to work together. By removing busywork and operational friction, we help teams move faster, stay compliant, and operate with confidence—all while giving contractors a more modern and transparent experience. In short: GigSafe gives companies one place to manage onboarding, compliance, payments, insurance, and day-to-day operations for their entire IC network.
