Job Duties:


Design a wide range of products and services that make up a self-driving forklift. Possess key ownership over all decisions that affect the look, feel and usability of the product. Responsible for travelling to customer warehouses as needed to understand how the products are used. Pursue understanding of customers and develop user personas through user research. Understand capabilities and limitations of automation functions. Provide conceptual design ideas, information architecture, interaction and visual designs for physical forklift user interfaces. Design sitemaps, layouts and user interaction flows for web and mobile services. Create wireframes and mockups to aid in in-person and remote testing for design validation. Collaborate with engineers to understand, inspire and expand further possibilities of the product. Prepare sketches of conceptual design ideas or blueprints using computer-aided design equipment. Use computer software to develop virtual models of different self-driving forklift designs. Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends. Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics. Work with mechanical engineers and manufacturers to evaluate whether design concepts will fill needs at a reasonable cost. Confer with customers to establish and evaluate design concepts for self-driving forklift. Present designs and reports to customers for approval and discuss need for modification. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, any other related field required. 2 years of experience designing and prototyping tools; collaborating with cross functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction, visuals or user experience; developing mockups and prototypes that illustrate design concepts; experience with web and/or mobile layouts and visual design; identifying product needs and decision making to serve best interests of customers; and experience with user research techniques such as discovery interviews, usability testing and survey designs required. Up to 10% domestic travel required.


Minimum Requirements:    

 

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, any other related field required. 2 years of experience designing and prototyping tools; collaborating with cross functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction, visuals or user experience; developing mockups and prototypes that illustrate design concepts; experience with web and/or mobile layouts and visual design; identifying product needs and decision making to serve best interests of customers; and experience with user research techniques such as discovery interviews, usability testing and survey designs required; or any occupation where above experience was acquired.


Travel Requirements:       Up to 10% domestic travel required.
