About the Role
The Product Design Internship at Voltus offers a dynamic and hands-on experience of the energy tech industry. This role is designed for a bright and passionate individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and work alongside industry professionals in the fast-paced and complex world of Demand Response.
Voltus is a fully distributed company and this job is remote. You have the flexibility to work from anywhere, but you must overlap with the Central Time zone for at least 4 hours of the workday (9am-5pm).
Key Responsibilities
- Support key design initiatives such as improving customer experiences, designing new internal tools and enhancing the design system.
- Lead research initiatives for projects as needed.
- Design UX, UI and prototypes at the fidelity required of the project.
- Collaborate with the Engineering and Product teams, as well as other stakeholders.

- Gain hand-on experience with a wide range of design methods and tools.
- Acquire skills in research, UX and UI design, product strategy and project management.
- Exposure to a professional product environment and remote work cultures.

- Plan and execute research to inform solutions for both customer and internal experiences.
- Design for a complex, multifaceted, and data-rich B2B application.
- Maintain, grow and mature an existing design system.
- Improve existing application experiences as well as create brand new solutions to solve important business problems.
Qualifications
- Product Design experience including research, UX design, UI design and prototyping in Figma.
- Demonstrated interest in energy markets, demand response, the energy grid or climate solutions.
- Strong self-starter able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work remotely.
- Eligible to work in the US or Canada without sponsorship.
