Our client is a global workforce software company unifying HR, payroll, IT and finance on one platform. Its more than 40 products must feel like a seamless experience. The company has publicly announced a $450M Series G round, and its design systems team has roughly 18 dedicated engineers.
Join as a Staff/Principal-level individual contributor to define platform-wide design systems. Set vision and strategy, identify problems and drive initiatives through hands-on design and AI-assisted code prototyping. Remote work is available in the US, Canada and UK. Candidates near the New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto or London offices are expected onsite three days a week. New York is the preferred location, followed by Toronto and US East Coast remote; other listed offices and US remote are also considered.
• Build scalable UX patterns and repeatable flows across a dense, multi-product platform, including mobile experiences.
• Develop systems that define and measure design quality and automatically check product work against standards.
• Build AI prototyping tools and code-based checks of implementation quality.
• Own broad initiatives from strategy and research through hands-on prototyping and delivery.
• Partner with engineers, product managers and designers to raise craft and evolve the design language.
Requirements
• Typically eight or more years in product design or design systems, with Staff, Principal or Lead-level ownership.
• Experience building scalable interaction patterns and UX frameworks beyond component or token libraries.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding and prototyping tools, such as Codex, Cursor and Claude Code.
• Strong visual, interaction and user experience craft, including accessibility expertise.
• Systems experience in complex B2B platforms, horizontal architectures or developer tooling.
• Ability to identify problems independently, set direction and work directly with engineering.
• Strong mobile or consumer design experience is a plus. A purely technical background must still demonstrate excellent visual craft.
Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, Claude, ChatGPT, Figma and FigJam. Code-based prototyping and AI-driven design quality tools are central to the work.
