Objective of the position
As a Cybersecurity Engineer within the Global Engineering and Innovation team at Stoneridge Electronics, you will be responsible for driving cybersecurity development and engineering processes and ensuring the implementation of cybersecurity requirements across software and hardware architectures.
You will collaborate closely with product owners and other engineering teams across multiple customer projects, aligning diverse competencies and ensuring compliance with relevant automotive standards and internal development guidelines.
A key product in this business unit is MirrorEye®, an innovative camera-based replacement for traditional truck rearview mirrors. The system enables advanced vehicle functions such as object detection, and you will contribute to the development of these next-generation automotive innovations.
Characterization of activities
- Perform focused cybersecurity analyses such as TARA, interface risk assessments, and security concept reviews for vehicle systems and components.
- Translate identified threats and risks into technical cybersecurity requirements, supporting compliance with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155.
- Work hands‑on with development teams to verify correct implementation of cybersecurity mechanisms and controls.
- Support incident response, vulnerability handling, and post‑development monitoring activities as required by automotive cybersecurity regulations.
- Contribute expert input to the wider vehicle cybersecurity community, strengthening product robustness and compliance.
Education, experience and knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product cybersecurity, including cybersecurity or safety management processes.
- Proven experience implementing ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155 / R156, with solid knowledge of cryptographic algorithms (e.g. RSA, AES, SHA, CMAC, GMAC).
- Strong understanding of security risk management, compliance, policies, and standards, preferably in regulated environments.
- Familiarity with automotive product development lifecycles; experience with hardware/software security, HSM, SHE, secure boot, or secure updates is a strong plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, fluent English, proactive mindset, and strong willingness to learn; cybersecurity training or certifications (e.g. CSCAC) and exposure to RED 2022/53/EU or penetration testing are advantageous.
