Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Product Compliance Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet safety and compliance standards across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory research, execution of regulatory registrations, product testing management, risk assessment, and maintaining compliance documentation.
PLEASE NOTE: this is an independent contractor position (indefinite contracting time period)
Responsibilities:
· Support the Managing Attorney in researching and implementing product safety regulations and standards across the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, and EU. This includes requirements for product testing, labeling, technical documentation, and registrations.
· Liaise with regulatory agencies as needed to clarify compliance requirements, maintaining a comprehensive database of regulatory requirements for all active markets.
· Oversee product testing processes and coordinate with third-party laboratories.
· Maintain a robust database of testing records, certifications, and reports.
· Conduct and document product risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
· Review and analyze Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemical compliance and product labeling.
· Prepare and maintain technical files and documentation for regulatory registration submissions.
· Ensure product labels meet regulatory requirements, including safety warnings, language requirements, and mandatory symbols.
· Support the creation and review of product labels to meet regulatory standards.
· Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Planning, Logistics, and Design teams to align on safety and compliance objectives.
· Provide guidance on regulatory implications for product changes or new product introductions.
· Facilitate training and communication of compliance policies across relevant departments.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in regulatory affairs, legal studies, quality management, engineering, chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in compliance, risk management, or product safety are a plus.
· Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in product safety and regulatory compliance, preferably in consumer goods or manufacturing in multi-national companies, or 3rd-party lab.
Skills:
Proficiency in English (required), with effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks in US, CA, MX, UK, and EU (e.g., CPSIA, EPA, CE UKCA, REACH, RoHS, FDA, Health Canada, and other regulations).
Familiarity with product labeling requirements and governmental registration processes.
Strong understanding of product testing protocols and standards.
Proficiency in risk assessment, SDS analysis, and quality control practices.
Investigative with good problem solving and failure analysis skills.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Proficient in MS office tools (Word, Excel, PPT), Adobe Acrobat, project management tools such as Monday.com and Jira, etc.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is CRC 17m - CRC 23m annually, and final salary will . This is an indefinite independent contracting position.
