Job Description for Product CAD Drafter

Job Title: Product CAD Drafter

Department: Product Engineering

Reports to: Product Engineering Supervisor

FSLA Status: Salary

 

SUMMARY

A Product CAD Drafter develops engineering drawings under the direction of Product Designers and Engineers.  Details drawings for new products, as well as making updates to existing drawings including adding new sizes or changes based on Product Change Requests. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Update existing engineering drawings to add new sizes

Update existing engineering drawings with requested changes based on Product Change Requests

Create detailed drawings for completion of product drawing packages to support product designers/engineers

Create DXF files for use by downstream departments within the Company

Research product fitment issues to support Quality Assurance and Production departments

Work with Production to determine and document product improvements

Assist Product Designers and Engineers with prototype reviews to coordinate needed updates to drawings

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess good communications skills and be comfortable dealing with diverse groups and individuals throughout the organization.  Must have a good working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Suite.  Knowledge of a tier 1 ERP system a plus (SAP preferred).  Must know how to use 3D Cad system (SolidWorks preferably).  Working knowledge of drawing management and document control processes.  Ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously and often under time pressure.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lift up to 50 pounds, walk the shop floor, walk up and down stairs

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associates degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.  Pay is commensurate with education and experience.
