The Position:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our Global Supply Chain team, with a focus on supporting Laboratory Developed Test laboratories across the United States. The Procurement Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement of supplies, equipment, and materials essential for laboratory operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, and collaboration with internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure supply chain efficiency, cost control, and compliance with industry standards. This is a new position within our Global Supply Chain team with the opportunity to build out processes and continue to expand the procurement function across all Veracyte. The work location of this position is hybrid in our San Diego office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute on the purchase of a wide range of clinical and laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment to support 3 full-time high-volume CLIA laboratories.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring ongoing communication and timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify procurement needs and forecast demand based on laboratory requirements and production schedules.
- Be hands-on with Kanban management in all 3 CLIA laboratory locations, review Kanban levels on an ongoing basis and ensure that the supply chain plan always meets safety stock and efficiency metrics.
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, regulatory, and service standards specific to CLIA labs.
- Manage supplier performance by regularly reviewing KPIs (e.g., lead times, pricing, service level agreements) and addressing any performance issues.
- Identify and execute opportunities for supplier consolidation to drive efficiency and reduce procurement costs.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, SOPs, and external regulations governing clinical supply chain and laboratory operations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, quotes, and inventory data using ERP systems.
- Track key supply chain metrics, including delivery times, cost variances, and inventory turnover, and recommend adjustments as needed.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 3- 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the healthcare or clinical laboratory industry.
- Experience working with laboratories or clinical supply chains is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of industry regulations related to clinical supplies, FDA guidelines, and ISO standards is a plus.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in procurement processes.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to compliance with industry regulations.
- APICS/ASCM Certification is a plus.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
