The Position
Lead & undertake procurement in several major investment projects. Act as sourcing expert, follow standardized procedures for undertaking tendering according to Good Procurement Practices. Ensure acquisition of high-quality goods and services at the best possible prices by negotiating & monitoring contracts & relationships with selected suppliers. Act as communication link between Investment, Engineering & Sourcing (IES) and investment projects stakeholders, maintaining a global overview while serving local customers. Identify opportunities for operational improvements & seeks agreement through consensus management.

Essential Functions

  • Manage procurement activities in several major projects which, among other tasks include supplier selection in agreement with our category managers, executing tendering processes, bid clarification and evaluation, terms & conditions and contract preparation and negotiations
  • Establishes, directs, & leads cross-functional teams in various sourcing activities to identify, select, negotiate, establish, & source preferred supplier contracts, agreements, leases, supplies & services
  • Support and coordinate with Project Managers and technical specialists in order to have the most feasible supplier contracts and successful project execution
  • Ensure and safeguard that all sourcing and supplier related activities are conducted in full compliance with our standards and regulations
  • Ensure balance between the business and project objectives in regards to triple bottom line, risk assessment and deliveries in a complex setting
  • Develop strategies for procurement within Investment Projects
  • Drive coordination when crisis management is needed to mitigate risks towards LoB
  • Acts as a liaison between the line of business, appropriate internal stakeholders, & supplier to ensure business objectives are met
  • Direct partnering with Line of Business to demonstrate how sourcing & procurement can help support overall business strategies
  • Understands broad organizational perspectives & delivers messages & presentation to various stakeholders to gain consensus for strategic initiatives & ideas, in the face of complexity or disagreement
  • Support IES' internationalization process, which includes building up capacity and knowledge with local staff on how to undertake professional procurement
  • Responsible for analyzing and developing business opportunities, procurement strategies and plans for the procurement activities which must obtain buy-in on from relevant stakeholders on all levels within the company
  • Always take into consideration total cost views are considered in major investment project and challenge these if projects have not been viewed from a total cost perspective
  • Continuously drive identification and realization of maximum potential savings and other benefits
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of our department's activities tools, systems and processes
  • Seeks out, builds, & maintains trusting & collaborative relationships & alliances with others inside & outside of the organization in ways that accomplish key business objectives; & helps others do the same
  • Ensure that non-financial objectives are also considered. E.g. Circular for Zero and Responsible Sourcing
  • Supports the Supplier Diversity program & promotes the inclusion of diverse suppliers in all sourcing initiatives
  • Partners with other Procurement team to establish company-wide procurement systems, tools, processes, policies, & procedures to support & lead to informed, fact-based sourcing decisions
  • Consider new tools, theory and methodology for optimizing worldwide processes, sourcing and/or supplier relationships
  • Contribute to development of the IES Supplier base
  • Support department development activities and colleagues by sharing better practices
  • Support the motivation in the department with a positive, dynamic, innovative and cooperative mindset
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Finance, Procurement, Accounting, Purchasing or similar field from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of substantial work experience as responsible for procurement or project management in large capital investment projects required (pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred)
  • Procurement management responsibilities from several positions in North America and internationally preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to act as project lead in the development & implementation of projects, processes, & programs preferred
  • Proven knowledge of strategic good procurement / engineering practices and their application to the purchase of equipment and services required
  • Experience with development of procurement tools and templates and ability to develop strategies within technical procurement preferred
  • Extensive successful track record and documented skills in overcoming various unforeseen and difficulties in complex project preferred
  • Experience in driving teams towards specific goals and defining new objectives for constant improvement of business procedures preferred
  • Able to act as consultant for internal groups and management and use the right personal approach in order to handle suppliers successfully preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills required
  • Ability to develop strategic sourcing advice & sourcing plans based on supply & demand dynamics combined with business requirements required
  • Able to challenge specific projects and develop alternative solutions required
  • Extensive analytical skills and a significant practical experience in analyzing complex numbers and issues preferred
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships is vital to this role, and the ideal candidate possesses excellent people skills as well as a profound understanding of quality, time and stakeholder management preferred
  • Solid project management skills, including ability to plan projects, drive problem solving, develop business plans and manage a project team preferred
  • Ability to plan, coordinate & prioritize activities to ensure optimal use of resources in the department required
  • Ability to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets & handle multiple tasks simultaneously required
