The Purchasing Specialist/Manager is essential in developing sourcing strategies for Electronics and Contract Manufacturing. This role involves providing leadership and strategic insights that align with Baxter's mission to Sustain and Save Lives. Candidates must have extensive experience in sourcing and negotiation within these sectors, as these skills are essential for success. By applying their expertise, this role will enhance supplier relationships and optimize procurement processes, significantly contributing to the organization's goals. What you'll be doing:Responsible for supplier relationship management and risk assessment, Developing and Implementing appropriate risk mitigation plans.
Responsible for negotiations and contracting.Develop robust category strategies that reduce supply base, reduce dependence on single/sole sourced suppliers, deliver continuity of supply, and provide for annual cost reductions.
Deliver annual VIP (cost reductions) and PPV objectives at category and plant levels. Jointly, with supplier quality, address supplier quality issues timely.
Facilitate the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize Baxter’s global position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost.
Partnering closely with Baxters’s R&D organization to mitigate risk and continuously work to develop and improve supplier systems and processes.
In addition, the role is responsible for leveraging technology and purchasing power to reduce the overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiation and optimization of supplier agreements.
This individual will own strategies that extend through the full supply chain including primary and sub-tier supplier, so is expected effectively manages long-term relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
What you'll bring:Bachelor's Degree; MBA desirable. CPM or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum 3-7 years of proven experience in Procurement.
Strong decision maker surrounding multi-million dollar contracts and agreements and major policies.
Risk leadership skills required to drive innovative solutions and problem solving analysis and resolution.
Seasoned negotiator with knowledge of cost tools such as material breakdown, benchmarking, value analysis, value engineering, sophisticated RFQ’s and innovative purchasing tools.
Strong project management skills to drive projects to closure.
High level technical capability. Engineering, Electronic or other Technical training preferred.
7 Ability to think strategically and globally.
Ability to manage diverse customer interests and expectations.
