We are seeking a Procurement Engineer to join our supply chain organization and support technical procurement, planning and analytics for sustaining and NPI initiatives. You will play a critical role in sourcing and managing the supply chain for new and innovative medical devices, ensuring that all components and materials meet our stringent quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement activities related to new product development, including supplier onboarding, managing purchase orders, and meeting product development timelines.
- Own activities related to the identification, evaluations, and selection of suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing, production and engineering teams to forecast material needs and develop strategies that align with production schedules.
- Lead costing activities, including analyzing total cost of goods, should-cost analysis, and managing ad-hoc issues that arise. Lead the development of BOMs and optimize across the product lifecycle.
- Cost analysis and negotiations to obtain the best possible pricing and terms. Monitor market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Analyze technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and part/equipment availability to ensure feasibility and alignment with production requirements.
- Conduct supplier selection, manage critical supplier agreements, and oversee new source identification, contract renewals, and negotiations. Develop and manage continuous improvement programs with suppliers to address quality, delivery, service, and cost.
- Ensure that all procured materials and components meet our quality standards and specifications. Work closely with the quality team to address any issues related to supplier performance or material defects.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the procurement function. Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- A technical Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar. A master’s degree is a plus
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Experience within a complex, physical product industry such as medical device, semiconductor, robotics, automotive or similar
- Proven track record of successfully managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.
- Knowledgeable of processes used in the manufacturing of mechanical components such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal forming, casting, etc.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
- Proficiency with an ERP system. We use Odoo
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485) and quality standards is a plus
