Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer supports manufacturing readiness by assessing production processes and workstation performance during industrialization phases. This position focuses on reviewing process efficiency, validating station preparedness, confirming compliance with Standard Time Values (STV), and issuing clear readiness assessments. The role also leads follow-up actions, investigates performance gaps, and drives continuous improvement efforts to achieve target production rates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Planning & Preparation
  • Review existing procedures, standards, and supporting documentation.
  • Examine detailed process flows at the operation and element level, including STV metrics and PFMEA rankings.
  • Assess completeness and accuracy of Process & Station Readiness plans.
  • Confirm required templates, personnel resources, and support functions are available.
  • Validate PERT and line balancing data against planned cycle time objectives.
  • Coordinate observation plans covering operators, material flow, and support activities.
  • Execution & Analysis
  • Perform on-site production floor observations and document findings in a structured manner.
  • Prepare reports summarizing observations, performance evaluations, and identified deviations.
  • Track, prioritize, and manage corrective action items through completion.
  • Update Process & Station Readiness plans to align with standards and operational needs.
  • Conduct Pareto analysis for defects, deviations, and productivity gaps.
  • Convert Non-Value-Added (NVA) activities into measurable cost impact at full production rates.
  • Deliverables
  • Value-Added (VA) and Non-Value-Added (NVA) time studies for non-linked operations and associated cost impacts
  • Feasibility of operations within STV or target cycle times
  • Workload allocation by station or work package
  • Pareto charts for findings and improvement opportunities
  • Quantified Right-First-Time (RFT) performance metrics
  • Variances from line balancing at station or area level
  • Identification of VA/NVA opportunities with estimated gains
  • Improvement recommendations with expected impact assessments
  • Maintain readiness checklists (AOS bricks) and associated action logs
  • Update and distribute Process & Station Readiness documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
  • 3–4 years of experience in process optimization, line balancing, or manufacturing readiness, preferably within aerospace or automotive environments
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, lean manufacturing tools, and shopfloor operations
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills using Excel, Google Sheets, or business intelligence platforms
  • Ability to communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with problem-solving methods and root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across production, engineering, and support teams
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
