NORPAC is looking for a Process Engineer.
Qualifications
Key Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):
- Responsible for the feasibility, scoping, planning, implementation and commissioning phases of engineering projects.
- Plan, lead, organize and monitor capital and major maintenance projects consistent with NORPAC goals.
- Manage engineering consulting personnel engaged in preparation of project scope and estimates, detail design and equipment procurement for large projects.
- Perform basic mechanical and piping design as needed for small projects.
- Coordinate work with other discipline engineers on small and large projects.
- Specify and assist in procurement of equipment and materials.
- Administer hazardous piping program and pressure vessels inspections.
- Learn and apply formal problem solving techniques to improve process capability and product quality.
- Work with operations, maintenance and management to solve daily safety, production and quality issues.
- Participate and/or facilitate problem-solving task teams.
Required:
- Working knowledge of process piping and equipment (e.g. pressure vessels, pumps pressing and drying equipment, conveyers and roll handling)
- BS degree in mechanical engineering
- Five or more years experience in a manufacturing facility
- Ability to excel with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills that includes experience with Excel, Word and AutoCad
- Flexible to meet changing business and team needs and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Experience in supporting and leading both capital and major maintenance projects
Preferred:
- Prior experiences in pulp and paper engineering and/or field work concerning pulp and paper making machinery and piping systems
- 2-3 years pulp and paper industry experience
- Experience working with non-traditional, high performance work systems
Necessary Skills:
- Possess excellent skills in written and oral communication, time management, problem solving, conflict resolution and small task group facilitation
- Demonstrated ability to develop cooperative working relationships between individuals and departments and ability to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills base
