Description

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our Physical Manufacturing team at LightForce Orthodontics. You will be part of a small team of Process Engineers and find that your day-to-day tasks actively contribute to our company’s success. Our ideal teammate communicates effectively, is process and data-driven, works well under pressure, and is eager to learn. 

The Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting the production team. This may include projects related to traceability, scaling, quality control, and root cause analysis to name a few! You will become intimately familiar with our production workflow, allowing you to drive high level improvements to the manufacturing process. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Address Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) via root cause analysis and design of experiments (DOEs)
  • Drive improvements to process and production metrics (safety, quality, delivery, cost) 
  • Ensure all processes comply with safety and quality standards
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques (e.g., 5S) to process and production improvements
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are updated as process improvements and changes are released to production
  • Optimize the solutions (processes, machines, tools) employed within our production environment 
  • Perform process workflow simulations, risk assessments, and process change validation
  • Continually evaluate equipment and processes to ensure high efficiency and quality
  • Design and test jigs and other manufacturing aids to support productivity and performance metrics 
  • Support production team by troubleshooting issues

Education & Experience

  • 0-2 years of Engineering experience. 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with ISO 13845 or medical device regulation is a plus.
  • Experience in project management methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience working in a startup environment is a plus.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience with QuickSight, Jira, and/or GitHub is a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, and process development.
  • Ability to navigate complex issues and problems
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams (production, engineering, and R&D). 
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to assess and navigate risks, perform failure and root cause analysis, and develop design of experiments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to assess workload and select priorities in an ambiguous environment. 
  • Analytical thinker.

Physical Demands 

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, hand, and finger manipulation.
  • Perform work activities with production chemicals, adhesives and epoxies, using required personal protective equipment  

Work Environment

  • Office environment up to 100%
  • Work is generally performed in an open office, sedentary position
  • Limited temperature fluctuations, heated and air conditioned environment
  • Work is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally with sensitive chemicals
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
