POSITION SUMMARY:
Process Engineer provides technical expertise for the design standards, process capabilities, scale-ups, hazard analysis, performance monitoring, technical training and continuous improvements for a site or group of locations within the HNH business. This position will plan, support, and where applicable, execute engineering deliverables for the site’s production and packaging functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides technical leadership to enable new product or process development by collaborating with research and development, corporate engineering and/ or technical groups from other locations to develop engineering packages to deliver the capabilities required.
- Provides technical expertise to generate and track value by implementing improvements to existing processes and to provide guidance for process safety evaluations.
- Designs experiments with internal and external resources to reduce variation, validate process change, or evaluate a project’s cost/ benefit
- Develops project scopes, justification, P&IDs, drawings, and controls narratives to plan, support, and execute process improvements.
- Authors and reviews documents including Preventive Maintenance plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Material Masters, and other forms.
- Leads and provide direction for other operational and engineering resources assigned to projects and processes, including coaching, mentoring and knowledge development.
- Keeps abreast of emerging manufacturing technology trends and developments and incorporate into design requirements.
- Works with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues/problems.
- Responsible for technical support and improvement in the areas of material handling, ingredients preparation, receiving, CIP, and liquid & powder processing.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical or biosystems engineering or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience, minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment
- Strong safety orientation
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, ERP)
- Specific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM systems
- Clear sense of urgency and ability to manage priorities to meet immediate needs and long-term goals
- Ability to manage time and workload efficiently, and the ability to prioritize and modify priorities accordingly
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to work and develop others in a team environment
- Sensitive to other cultures/backgrounds, able to work in a multi-cultural workplace
- Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced environment while moving multiple simultaneous projects forward
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to discuss, develop, and implement plan
- High sensitivity to quality and on time delivery of commitments

PREFERRED:
- Food or pharmaceutical packaging
- Working understanding of PLC’s
- Knowledge of Computer- Aided Design Software
- Knowledge of OSIsoft PI System
- Past understanding of food GMP’s and hygienic design
- Specific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM systems
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Often required to spend time in plant environments with operating and maintenance personnel requiring one to kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, ascend and descend stairs and/or ladders
- Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
