If you love solving real manufacturing problems and seeing your fixes show up on the floor the same week, this is your role. As our Process Engineer, you'll own process development and optimization across the full production lifecycle — cutting, edge finishing, tempering, lamination, screen printing, and inspection — for some of the most demanding precision glass applications in industrial, scientific, defense, and optical markets.
This isn't a desk job removed from the work. You'll be on the floor, in the data, and in the room with production, quality, and engineering teams — driving improvements that actually move the needle on throughput, yield, and first-pass quality, all while holding the line on the process controls that precision glass fabrication demands
Cat-i Glass participates in E-Verify to confirm employment eligibility after hire..What You'll Do:
- Develop and document manufacturing routings and process parameters for CNC machining, waterjet and laser cutting, drilling, edge grinding and polishing, chemical strengthening, and thermal tempering.
- Analyze scrap, rework, and yield data to identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with Quality to define and maintain inspection gate criteria across departments.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing process plans for new part geometries and substrates.
- Optimize cycle times and material utilization across cutting and lamination operations.
- Maintain and update process documentation within Epicor Kinetic (ERP) and the internal routing guide.
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and maintenance teams on capital equipment specification, installation, and qualification.
- Train operators on new or revised process procedures.
- Investigate and resolve process-related nonconformances and customer complaints.
- Support screen printing process development, including registration, ink cure, and adhesion requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent manufacturing experience).
- 3+ years of process or manufacturing engineering experience in ceramics is a plus.
- Working knowledge of thermal or chemical tempering, lamination, and precision edge finishing processes.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems is a plus
- Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills (root cause analysis, DOE, SPC).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
What We Have To Offer:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance — because a trip to the dentist or the eye doctor shouldn't be a financial decision.
- If you get hurt or sick, your paycheck doesn't stop. Short-term and long-term disability, so one bad injury doesn't turn into a financial crisis for your family.
- Time off that's actually yours. PTO plus floating holidays
- 401(k). Retirement isn't a "someday" problem. We help you build it starting now.
- Life insurance, on us. Company-paid, at no cost to you.
- We'll help pay for school. Tuition reimbursement if you want to keep growing — your future here isn't capped by the job you walked in with.
- This is a place you'll actually want to be. Friends & family events, a holiday party, and perks running all year long.
