Job Summary

The Process Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role focused on learning and applying engineering fundamentals within a manufacturing environment. This position supports continuous improvement efforts, assists with process optimization and troubleshooting, and works under the guidance of senior engineers and/or plant leadership on department- or value stream-level projects. The role emphasizes execution and implementation while building technical, manufacturing, and Lean process knowledge.

Essential Job Functions

  • Learn and apply engineering fundamentals to support manufacturing process improvements related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and waste reduction.
  • Support work order improvement activities and Engineering Master updates.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze production data under guidance to identify trends, support problem solving, and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Support Kaizen events, Lean improvement projects, and root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Why and A3 planning template.
  • Provide hands-on execution and implementation support for equipment, materials, process changes, and manufacturing troubleshooting activities.
  • Assigned tasks are to be completed accurately, documented appropriately, and aligned with project objectives.
  • Create and update work instructions, process documentation, visual standards, engineering records, and operator training materials to support process sustainment.
  • Support adherence to safety, environmental, and health regulations, including participation in safety initiatives, corrective action activities, and risk assessments.
  • Implement strategic continuous improvement projects with significant savings for the facility
  • Develop capital charter proposals and manage the implementation of capital projects
  • Create CAD drawings for new equipment/tooling
  • Lead A3 Projects with project plan
  • Develop test / trial plans for evaluating material and parts
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Foundational understanding of engineering principles 
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement concepts required.
  • Proficiency with Software skills in Excel, Word, and Power point are essential
  • CAD / Solid Works experience 
  • Exposure to CNC equipment, thermoplastics, thermosets, composites, or related manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply structured methods required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Technical reporting of new materials, process, and key equipment capabilities (white papers).
  • Perform data analysis and report in coherent format for applicability
  • Project management competency for capital projects
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively on the production floor required.
  • Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) Engineering Degree 
  • 1–4 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • OSHA Safety competency in industrial environment 

Travel
