Job Summary

The Printer I position is responsible for executing basic printing tasks, including running one-color, non-registered jobs, solids, and applying Kompac coating. This role requires foundational knowledge of printing operations, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. The Printer I collaborates closely with the racking and inking departments to meet production goals efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate printing presses for one-color, non-registered jobs.
  • Follow job instructions to ensure customer requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Apply Kompac coating as specified in job instructions.
  • Maintain both quality and production standards throughout the printing process.
  • Perform routine press maintenance and cleaning after job completion.
  • Learn and adhere to quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies, defects, or equipment issues to the Supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety protocols.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but is expected to follow and uphold company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Required Skills & Competencies:
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Strong attention to detail with basic understanding of color, design, and print quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret job instructions, work orders, and quality guidelines.
  • Proficiency in basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately read a ruler for measurements.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Up to three months of related printing experience preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions.
  • Clear verbal communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with the team.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to identify and resolve basic production and mechanical issues.
Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle, operate, and adjust printing equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch for machine maintenance.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds as needed.
  • Requires visual acuity for inspecting print quality, color matching, and ensuring press accuracy.
Work Environment

  • Moderate noise level typical of a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to moving production equipment and printing machinery.
  • Safety equipment and personal protective gear (PPE) will be provided as necessary.

Requirements

Must have reliable transportation and be available to work a Monday-Friday 7am to 3:30pm schedule.

Must be available for overtime as needed.

Must have good attendance habits. 

Attention to detail a must. 

Prior printing experience highly preferred.
