As a key member of our teleport facilities team, you will ensure communications equipment operates properly and delivers the highest standard service to our customers.
In the role of Principal Technician in a 24/7 Teleport you can showcase your strong technical skills and know-how to perform complex routine on-site installation and repair of equipment as well as preventive maintenance. As you are proficient to the various competencies of the job, you will have the opportunity to act as mentor to junior team members.
What you will do

  • Perform moderately complex troubleshooting and quick restoral of services
  • Lead preventative/periodic maintenance checks of ground station equipment and associated sub-systems. Validate recordings, review for any anomalies and take the appropriate action to correct.
  • Play a senior role in providing Level 1 maintenance, which includes troubleshooting/fault isolation, replacement of major assemblies and sub-assemblies as well as performing basic alignment procedures.
  • Use your knowledge to train other technicians on operational and maintenance procedures, as well as technical training of either specific ground station facility equipment.
  • Play a key role in the development or enhancement of operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor the conditions of terrestrial facilities, including the status of system alarms, station plant and facility subsystems while working with state-of-the-art monitoring systems and test equipment.
  • Identify inefficient operations processes and unreliable equipment, or sub-systems that affect the ability to provide service reliability and customer service and make recommendations to address these issues.
  • Prepare and review reports and updates for any service status change, maintenance and fault/repair/restoral.


Your required experience/skills

  • US Citizenship and a favorably completed DoD National Agency Check with Law and Credit (NACLC) and a final DoD-granted Top Secret security clearance with the eligibility of SCI.
  • EPA Certification to handle air condition refrigerants.
  • A valid vehicle Driver's License and reliable vehicle for transportation.
  • General PC skills and proficiency in use of "Office Suite" software
  • This role is subject to ITAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).
  • At least 5 years of experience that includes:
    • working at facilities with large aperture (>60ft) antennas and towers
    • Sustaining the infrastructure supporting RF systems and hardware components
    • Maintaining inflatable radomes
  • The ability to operate, maintain and repair:
    • Diesel powered 35/60/200/300/1000 KW generators and Load Bank
    • 100/500 KW Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), high current batteries
    • Diesel Fuel Tanks, Electrical Switch Gear, Power Distribution System, and Antenna Drive Systems
    • Air conditioning equipment and air handlers (HVAC) at the facilities
  • The ability to:
    • Install and connect electrical power wiring to new equipment racks or equipment
    • Perform corrosion control of large aperture antennas, generators, buildings, perimeter fence and gates
    • Operate forklift to load/unload freight and equipment
    • Operate/maintain site security systems (burglar alarms, cameras, PE Beams, auto dialers, etc.)
    • Work on various ground station facility systems, perform replacement of major assemblies and sub-assemblies
    • Use standard test equipment for teleport facility equipment
    • Learn new technologies and services and make informed decisions
    • Communicate effectively in English
    • Demonstrate organizational, multi-tasking, team player, customer service skills while working independently and taking initiative
