About the role
We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer – C&I who will work in the Systems Business Unit (SBU) division of Enphase Energy. As a Principal Systems Engineer – C&I, reporting to the Sr Director of Systems Engineering, the successful candidate will lead the architecture and development of new Commercial and Industrial (C&I) energy systems, including energy storage.
What You Will Do
- Use their rich experience in the Systems Engineering domain to drive the architecture and development of new storage and PV solutions for C&I markets.
- Author the systems requirement document (SRD) along with architectural documents including but not limited to the interface documents, sequence diagrams and integration plans.
- Participate in the integration efforts once prototypes are made available in the systems engineering labs, including communication and power testing efforts, to make sure that the design meets the initial architecture design.
- Report on progress to management, orally and in presentation form.
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders in the organization, across different geographies, that are relevant to the domain.
- Answer the team's technical questions on architecture, design, and the industry standards needed.
- Participate in design reviews of the individual components that go into the design.
- Investigate future technologies.
- Mentor and coach less experienced members of the team.
Who You Are And What You Bring
- BS with 15 years’ experience, or M.Sc. with 12 years’ experience, or Ph.D. with 8 years of experience. With at least 2 years in a relevant field developing or deploying energy systems for C&I applications.
- Experience developing systems that have a mix of HW/FW and embedded SW.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Hands-on experience in the lab.
- Highly motivated, energetic, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of C&I solar and storage design and installation.
- Knowledge of C&I building management systems.
- Experience in renewable energy systems.
- Experience in Power electronics design.
- Experience with SunSpec and Modbus.
- Strong SW programming skills including C/C++ and Python.
Work Location
- Austin - TX.
Travel
- Occasional travel within the US to other locations, partners, vendors, conferences...etc.
- Some international travel when needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry, lift and move objects including above head level.
- Ability to use motor skills in wiring, soldering or assembling objects without supervision.
- Ability to visit sites and in the field and perform necessary repairs / data collection if needed.
- May be required to visit construction sites, including going on flat commercial roofs, (visits will be facilitated by professional crews).
The base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $183,600. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, education or training, work location, and market conditions. This position is also eligible for bonuses, equity, and benefits.
