About the Role

As a Software Project Engineer in our Connectivity team, you’ll lead the development of cutting-edge telematics solutions that transform vehicles into intelligent, connected platforms. From 5G to V2X, your work will power the next generation of automotive innovation.
In this role, you’ll serve as the technical lead and customer-facing representative for software development in key telematics domains. You’ll collaborate with global teams to define, develop, and deliver embedded software that meets the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability.
This position is also a strategic steppingstone toward a future Functional Owner role, where you will be expected to take full ownership of software domains and lead cross-functional project execution from concept to launch.
What You Will Do
- Act as the primary technical interface for customers (JOEMs), representing the software domain team
- Lead software development and integration for new product development projects
- Translate customer and system-level requirements into detailed technical specifications
- Ensure traceability and alignment between system, technical, and customer requirements
- Create and present system and technical requirement proposals for internal and external stakeholders
- Lead DFMEA/DRBFM creation and reviews with global teams and customers
- Estimate development efforts and align features with project milestones
- Track and manage the full software development lifecycle (V-Model)
- Coordinate with software project leaders to ensure successful execution
- Demonstrate leadership and ownership capabilities with the goal of evolving into a Functional Owner role, driving end-to-end responsibility for software domains in future projects
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience in embedded software development (C/C++)
- 3+ years of experience leading global development teams
- Strong knowledge of inter-process communication, threading, and socket programming
- Proficiency in embedded operating systems and debugging tools (e.g., GDB)
- Fluent in Japanese and business-level English
What is Nice to Have
- Experience in automotive software development
- Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and secure coding practices
- Familiarity with UML, Agile methodologies (SCRUM, SAFe), and Automotive SPICE® (especially SWE.2)
- Knowledge in any of the automotive standards like ISO24089, ISO26262, and ISO21434
