WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Principal Solution Architect to join our Architecture team in the Consumer Product & Innovation technology organization. Our architecture vision is integrated, end-to-end platform capabilities that enable technology efficiency and seamless experiences for Nike’s product creation professionals.

You have a proven track record of driving technology change and transformation in complex, high-visibility, and high-impact matrix environments. You bring deep technical expertise with the ability to understand and synthesize large amounts of information into strategic and executable designs. Strong communication and listening skills are key. You must be capable of navigating and influencing diverse opinions while maintaining clear and timely communication of technical options and issues.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will be one of the primary technical leaders of Nike’s Product Creation platform ecosystem leading the development and implementation of a platform strategy and architecture supporting a suite of seamless and connected Product Merchandising, 2D/3D Design, Product Development experiences.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with a team of Product Innovation, Merchandising, Design & Development business and technology professionals to deliver an end-to-end Nike Product lifecycle strategy and architecture

  • Delivering recommendations and transition strategies with consideration of rapid and incremental value delivery, optimizing cost efficiency and simplification of the solution ecosystem

  • Leading and delivering solution designs, recommendations, and options based on business capability requirements and roadmaps following an API-first model, enterprise security standards and reference architectures

  • Providing hands-on leadership in ideation and implementation 

  • Ensuring architecture alignment across domains and enabling functions (verticals and horizontals)

  • Providing technology guidance and insight to business & technology leaders, influencing as necessary

  • Maintaining awareness of vendor products, industry developments and trends to identify potential impacts and benefits to the Domain 

  • Presenting recommendations and solutions clearly and concisely focusing on key points to portray the intended message or purpose based on audience 

  • Driving alignment with corporate strategies through strong business and technical thought leadership 

  • Effectively managing priorities, deliverables and timelines with little need for escalation

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will be part of the team that is transforming how Nike’s Creative professionals Innovate, Plan, and Create product for our marketplace consumers. You will work with business stakeholders & delivery teams (peer Architects, Product Managers, Engineering) to understand strategy, objectives and problem areas across the Innovation, Merchandising, and Creation personas to design the future platform and experience ecosystem. You will also partner closely with enterprise business and technology teams to ensure seamless integration of Product Creation capabilities into the Enterprise value stream.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • In-depth knowledge in one or more business domains (Merchandising, Product 2D/3D Design, Product Development and Costing, Planning, Consumer/Marketplace)

  • 10+ years combined hands-on engineering experience with modern software architectural principles and patterns (REST, domain-driven design, Devops, microservices, etc.)

  • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture and/or engineering lead roles with agile teams in a product model

  • A minimum Bachelor Degree or a combination of relevant education, training and experience.

  • Large enterprise experience including global implementations and solution delivery

  • Knowledge of well-architected frameworks and experience designing platforms/systems for optimal performance, business continuity, compliance with security and privacy standards

  • Strong experience with microservice architecture, cloud computing, DevOps, java, javascript, REST API, noSQL DB with experience designing/implementing highly scalable web services on cloud

  • Ability to articulate and document architectural decisions and roadmaps at a senior executive level

  • Demonstrated track record of leading within complex organizations requiring strong influence management skills - ability to work cooperatively at all levels in a matrixed environment

  • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills with ability to facilitate technology strategy, requirements and architecture conversations with all stakeholders (management, business users, and technology delivery teams)
