Today, we are going through one of the most exciting times for our company. We are growing rapidly globally and expanding our software engineering team, seeking an experienced and visionary Principal Software Engineer (.NET) to be the first principal engineer to join our team.

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to play a key technical role within our Engineering organization. You will work across Agile/Scrum squads, collaborating closely with senior engineering leadership, Product, QA, and DevOps to design, build, and evolve the Vimachem Pharma 4.0 Platform. 

In this role, you will be deeply involved in the day-to-day development of the platform, contributing directly to core services, complex features, and architectural foundations. While you will provide technical leadership and guidance, your primary impact will come from actively designing, coding, reviewing, and improving production systems alongside the teams. 

You will help shape architectural decisions through implementation and example, ensuring our platform remains scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with both business goals and regulatory requirements. 

This is a highly visible role with significant influence on the quality, reliability, and evolution of Vimachem’s products. 

Tech stack  

Most of our sites and services are built with .NET. On the front end, we rely on Angular for application development, along with PrimeNG to enhance responsiveness and UI components. For storage, we primarily use PostgreSQL and MongoDB, but we also leverage TimescaleDB where appropriate. We use Lucene Search for quick and efficient search functionality. MassTransit serves as our preferred solution for handling message-based communication. We use Azure DevOps for version control and continuous integration, along with the Atlassian stack for managing tickets and documentation. 

About You  

• You are a highly experienced engineer who leads by example through technical excellence. You thrive when working close to the codebase, solving complex problems, and turning architectural concepts into robust, production-ready solutions. 

• You bring a strong system-level perspective while remaining fully engaged in implementation, code reviews, and hands-on problem solving. You provide technical leadership through collaboration, mentoring, and clear decision-making, rather than distance from delivery. 

• You take full ownership of technical outcomes, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health. You are passionate about modern software engineering practices and continuously seek opportunities to improve architecture, tooling, and development workflows. 

• You understand that reliability, security, and user experience are non-negotiable in Life Sciences software, and you champion these qualities from design through implementation. 

The main qualifications for the Principal Software Engineer role are:

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant hands-on experience building, evolving, and maintaining production systems using .NET technologies (C#, .NET Core, Web API development). 

• Advanced Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering, or related discipline. 

• Proven architectural leadership in designing and evolving large-scale, distributed systems and microservices, paired with a commitment to hands-on implementation. 

• Deep understanding of web fundamentals such as HTTP, REST, and API design best practices. 

• Strong expertise in software architecture, design patterns, algorithms, and system-level design. 

• Extensive experience with unit and integration testing, TDD, and maintaining high-quality, meaningful test coverage. 

• Strong proficiency with SQL and Entity Framework, and solid experience with NoSQL solutions such as MongoDB. 

• Demonstrated ability to develop and evolve high-performance, API-driven web applications and services. 

• Strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, following Clean Code, Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles. 

• Proven impact on complex systems, with direct contributions to core codebases, implementing critical services, conducting rigorous code reviews, and troubleshooting production issues. 

• Experience leading technical design discussions, conducting high-quality code reviews, and mentoring engineers through direct collaboration. 

• Ability to influence technical direction across teams through technical expertise and practical delivery, rather than formal authority. 

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, particularly in complex, distributed, and performance-sensitive environments. 

• Willingness to stay current with evolving tools, frameworks, and industry best practices, and to apply them pragmatically in production systems. 

• Positive, proactive, and collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for technical outcomes.
