Responsibilities:
- Over time, you will become a subject matter expert in the Corda platform, able to advise engineers, sales, support and our customers.
- You will design and implement highly complex software, within the Corda ecosystem and will assist other teams in understanding how to best utilise the software you develop.
- Work with industry-leading technologies to build the most robust version of Corda to date.
- As a recognised expert both inside and outside R3, you will help promote the work you have been doing to help the company in delivering the best possible software.
- You will mentor other engineers, enabling them to understand your approach to understanding and solving complex problems.
- You will use well developed and comprehensive judgment to make decisions of high complexity and impact, utilising team opinion and senior leadership where needed but often use autonomy in decision making.
- You will use well honed business analysis skills to interact with product management team(s) to marry technical delivery and client requirements.
- You will use well developed customer focus skills to anticipate internal/external customer requests.
- You will contribute to the technical direction and strategic vision of Corda engineering.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Extensive experience in software engineering roles, preferably building a SaaS or Platform product.
- Expertise in designing scalable, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems.
- Depth of proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their distributed database solutions.
- Knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, HTTP/2, gRPC, DNS, etc.)
- Experience with distributed database and their scaling solutions for high-volume transaction processing.
- Expertise in RESTful and GraphQL APIs for distributed systems.
- Experience building and designing Microapps/Microservices.
- Experience with Kubernetes & Kubernetes networking.
- Experience collaborating effectively in a cross-disciplinary team setup interacting directly with many parts of the organisation.
Nice to haves:
- Knowledge of IAM (Identity and Access Management) solutions.
- Knowledge of PKI implementations.
- Knowledge of cryptographic solutions.
- Knowledge of Security architecture implementations.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Helm, Terraform or alternative solutions.
- Experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack for tracking distributed systems.
- Blockchain and DLT Knowledge.
- Financial Systems and CBDC Domain Knowledge.
