About Generate:Biomedicines

Generate:Biomedicines is a new kind of therapeutics company – existing at the intersection of machine learning, biological engineering, and medicine – pioneering Generative Biology™ to create breakthrough medicines where novel therapeutics are computationally generated, instead of being discovered. The Company has built a machine learning-powered biomedicines platform with the potential to generate new drugs across a wide range of biologic modalities. This platform represents a potentially fundamental shift in what is possible in the field of biotherapeutic development.

We pursue this audacious vision because we believe in the unique and revolutionary power of generative biology to radically transform the lives of billions, with an outsized opportunity for patients in need. We are seeking collaborative, relentless problem solvers that share our passion for impact to join us!

Generate’s digital platform is critical to our Generate-Build-Measure-Learn cycle, which unites our dry and wet-lab teams in our mission of enabling engineerable biology. In this role, you will identify and implement new opportunities to streamline workflows, ensure consistent data capture, and enable advanced analytical capabilities. Your creativity and solution-oriented mindset, along with an iterative approach, will advance ideas to reality quickly. Your contributions to our Lab-In-The-Loop will enable Generative Biology at scale.

Here's how you will contribute:

  • Identify key opportunities and emerging technologies to improve data curation, automation, and data analysis across the organization.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, data scientists and drug development experts to advance our data platform and applications.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team to enhance R&D workflows, data management, and automated decision making.
  • Design, implement, and maintain APIs and software components that interact with and leverage LLMs and other Generative AI-based systems.
  • Advise on architecture, scalability, and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in software, technology, and informatics and translate those innovations into actionable solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges, ensuring system reliability and performance.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of integrating new technologies into existing software ecosystems, including LLMs.
  • Demonstrated expertise with modern programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar, and familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to learn and master new technologies, working iteratively to deliver solutions quickly.
  • Familiarity with computational biology, drug discovery, protein design or related fields is preferred.
  • Highly collaborative, with excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and push the boundaries of what is possible with emerging technologies.
