The role

Infinite Reality is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with an emphasis on Machine Learning to join our world-building team and drive the future of AI-powered virtual environments. In this role, you will be at the cutting edge of creating intelligent systems that empower our world builder platform to generate immersive 3D worlds from vast datasets, using advanced AI techniques such as large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and machine learning.

You will take the lead in developing and refining the algorithms and systems that enable LLMs to autonomously create complex and dynamic virtual environments. From 3D models and terrain to animations and interactive elements, your work will be instrumental in allowing AI to synthesize diverse forms of digital content into cohesive, interactive virtual worlds. You'll be at the forefront of implementing innovative solutions to handle the growing complexity of both AI-driven and user-generated content within our engine.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, and technical artists, you will define best practices for integrating generative AI technologies into the world-building pipeline. What you'll do

• Design & Implement AI-Driven World-Building Systems: Lead the development of cutting-edge systems that utilize large language models (LLMs) to autonomously generate immersive 3D environments. You'll leverage procedural generation frameworks that handle a wide range of assets, including 3D models, shaders, materials, and particle systems, allowing for dynamic world creation that leverages AI's full potential.
• Develop Scalable Pipelines for Asset Integration: Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to define and build scalable pipelines that ensure seamless integration of diverse 3D assets into the procedural generation process. You will ensure assets are prepared and formatted to be easily manipulated by LLMs, supporting a wide variety of user-generated and AI-generated content.
• Optimize for Performance & Scalability: Focus on making world-building systems not only functional but also highly scalable and performant. You'll work to optimize AI-driven procedural workflows, ensuring they can handle large datasets and multiple simultaneous interactions, all while maintaining high-quality virtual environments at scale.
• Collaborate with Cross-Disciplinary Teams: Partner with engineers, data scientists, technical artists, and designers to define and implement innovative solutions for creating dynamic virtual worlds. Your role will be key in ensuring technical integration across teams, and that assets and tools are optimized for efficient and effective world-building.
• Lead Innovation in Generative AI & Procedural Content: Drive the adoption of emerging technologies in generative AI and procedural content creation. Stay ahead of industry trends and lead efforts to integrate the latest AI advancements into our platform, ensuring the world builder remains at the forefront of AI-driven content creation.
• Solve Complex Technical Challenges: Take ownership of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to performance, AI systems, asset rendering, and procedural generation pipelines. Your problem-solving skills will ensure that world-building processes remain smooth, efficient, and capable of meeting the demands of immersive, dynamic virtual environments.

What you'll bring

• Extensive Machine Learning & AI Experience: You bring 10+ years of experience in machine learning, particularly in the development of systems for procedural content generation. You are skilled in working with large language models (LLMs) and other AI-driven technologies to create dynamic, scalable virtual environments. Your background enables you to design and implement pipelines that autonomously generate rich 3D worlds using AI.
• Strong 3D Graphics & Procedural Content Generation Expertise: With significant experience in 3D graphics programming and procedural content generation, you are proficient in handling 3D assets such as models, textures, shaders, and particle systems. You know how to create workflows that enable large-scale procedural generation, from asset processing to the integration of AI-generated content.
• Advanced Technical Skills in Web & Backend Development: You possess expertise in both frontend (React, Three.js, WebGL) and backend (Node.js, MySQL) development, which allows you to design and implement seamless full-stack solutions for integrating AI-driven procedural generation into interactive 3D worlds. Your ability to build scalable, high-performance systems ensures the smooth operation of complex virtual environments.
• Optimization & Performance Expertise: You have a keen ability to optimize complex systems for performance and scalability. Whether it's improving the rendering pipeline, reducing latency, or fine-tuning memory usage, you ensure that the AI-powered world-building systems perform seamlessly, even when handling large datasets and complex 3D assets.
• Scripting & Automation Proficiency: Your scripting skills in Python, Bash, or JavaScript enable you to automate key tasks and workflows, improving both the speed and efficiency of the world-building process. You automate asset handling, procedural generation, and other critical steps to ensure more reliable and faster operations.
• Collaborative Team Player with Leadership Skills: You thrive in cross-disciplinary teams, working closely with engineers, technical artists, and designers. We'll be extra pumped if you have

• Familiarity with Cloud-Based 3D Systems: Exposure to managing and deploying 3D assets at scale in cloud environments like AWS, GCP, or Azure. Your ability to integrate cloud technologies with procedural generation pipelines ensures that large volumes of content can be generated and processed efficiently in the cloud.
• Advanced Knowledge of Procedural Content Generation: Deep experience with procedural content generation (PCG) for 3D assets and virtual environments. Whether generating models, terrain, or animations, your ability to design scalable, efficient pipelines for AI-driven world-building is critical.

• Experience with AI & LLMs for 3D Asset Handling: Expertise in integrating large language models (LLMs) or other AI-driven technologies into the content generation pipeline.
