With your expertise in Kubernetes and Cloud-Native technologies, you will help design, build, and scale the Kubernetes Product Platform. This opinionated internal Kubernetes platform meets Akamai's change safety, security, and compliance expectations while giving developers the experience they want. This platform will help bring new products and services to market faster by simplifying performance, reliability, security, and operational needs.
As a Principal Software Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the development of the cloud native platform built on Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies
- Contributing to and helping shape the engineering roadmap by working with management and business stakeholders
- Contributing to enterprise features expected from a cloud native platform
- Developing best practices, knowledge sharing, and mentoring
- Leading and collaborating with engineering teams in an Agile environment
- Fostering an environment that encourages innovative solutions, rapid development cycles, and open communication
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
- Possess leadership experience in Cloud Native Platform Engineering, driving toward an enabled ecosystem of capabilities within our organization.
- Have experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Go programming language and be comfortable leveraging Python or Bash for scripting needs.
- Express expertise in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP) and knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
- Have expertise leveraging CI/CD tools to achieve good software development practices.

Compensation
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $169,300 - $304,700/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
