THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking a full-time Principal RF Design Engineer reporting to the Director of RF Engineering on the RF Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will actively participate in all aspects of the design process to develop the RF subsystem for Silvus' StreamCaster MANET product line. The position is located at Silvus headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA and is on a hybrid schedule, a minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On-site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion. 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Competitive RF Front End architecture design for many different radio and sensor applications
  • Antenna to baseband RF subsystem design using discrete circuitry or highly integrated RFICs.
  • Discrete design includes PLL, LNA, Mixers, PA etc.
  • Implementing or supervising schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • RF performance characterization, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Overall system design to ensure good EMI performance.
  • Ensure circuit board design and overall radio product can pass emission and immunity regulations.
  • Troubleshoot RF-related production yield problems.
  • Improve design for manufacturability.
  • Rare local travel, as required by Silvus (i.e. Irvine, San Diego)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Science (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of multi-GHz RF hardware development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with solving EMI, harmonics, spurious, and stability issues.
  • Good working knowledge of RF board layout, fabrication, and packaging.
  • Strong familiarity with using RF simulation tools (i.e. AWR Microwave Office, Altium).

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent bench skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Detail-oriented and a firm commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Problem-solving, data analysis, deductive reasoning, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

COMPENSATION

The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

CA Pay Range

$160,000-$220,000 USD
