The Opportunity
The Principal Program Manager role leads the planning, integration, and execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives within our global network. In this dynamic role, you will act as the primary driver for delivering large-scale initiatives, ensuring strong governance, prioritization, and clear trade-off decisions to deliver high-impact benefits.
You will collaborate closely with program teams, sites and functions to ensure alignment between strategic objectives and execution. You will lead initiatives focusing on our core program objectives:
Operational Excellence & Strategic Delivery: You will drive initiatives to optimize performance, ensure consistent delivery of objectives, and build detailed scenarios to keep program timelines on track.
Business Agility & Transformation: You will architect project strategies to ensure our capabilities are seamlessly prepared to support new product launches, business expansions, and market changes.
Process Optimization & Infrastructure Planning: You will manage projects aimed at optimizing internal capacity and reducing operational downtime. You will also plan for long-term strategic infrastructure changes, such as major automation layer upgrades (e.g., MES-DCS integration) and ensuring adherence to multi-year system lifecycle deadlines.
Value Creation: You will support continuous improvement and cost-optimization initiatives that generate sustainable savings to reinvest in new asset development and capability enhancements.
Who you are
You have a Bachelor's Degree or above, preferably in Engineering, Business or a related field.
You have at least 8 years of successful experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical or a complex matrix-driven industry, managing highly complex projects such as cross-functional business transformation and infrastructure migrations.
You have experience in scoping, planning, and leading cross-functional project teams’ execution of diverse projects, with a wide range of levels of complexity, technical and/or business-related.
Preferred Qualifications
You have a graduate degree or certification in Project Management (i.e., PMI certification)
You have a strong ability for strategic analysis, translating opportunities into concrete execution plans via highly structured methodologies.
You have exceptional influencing capabilities, interpersonal and broad communication skills, negotiation, collaboration, and strategic problem-solving abilities, alongside excellent time management and organizational skills.
You have a demonstrated ability to lead with and without functional direct-line authority, effectively engaging key Stakeholders.
You understand and advocate for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Engagement, and Cost to assure that the projects meet or exceed all corporate guidelines.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco, CA is $135,800 - $252,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
