Scope of work
We are currently in need of an experienced and motivated Principal Process Engineer to be based on site in Cologne, Germany. You will play a critical role in optimizing refinery operations. To determine success, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing processes to ensure efficient production while meeting safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead process design and optimization initiatives for refinery operations, including distillation, cracking, and hydro-treating processes.
- Conduct process simulations and analyses to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, yield, and safety.
- Develop and implement process control strategies to enhance operational reliability and reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including maintenance, operations, and safety, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Prepare technical documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform risk assessments and safety reviews to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to drive innovation within the refinery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the oil and gas or refining industry.
- Strong knowledge of refinery processes and technologies.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German is highly desirable.
