As the Principal Platform Engineer within the DevSecOps team under Financial Services Technology, you will lead a small team of engineers in building the new Group Reconciliation Platform, driving both platform development and engineering outcomes. You will be responsible for Technology Leadership for the new platform, driving the detailed  design and implementation of the platform, ensuring it meets operational goals. You will also be responsible for compliance, overnance, observability, integration and enablement. Once the platform has been delivered . Post go-live, transition into the service owner role, accountable for platform health, evolution, and operations ensuring platform reliability.  

 

We’re interested in hearing from people who can: 

  • Drive the detailed  design and implementation of the platform, ensuring it meets operational goals

  • Ensure alignment with architecture guardrails, cyber security standards, and DevSecOps principles

  • Embed monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities to support platform reliability and transparency.

  • Ensure effective delivery of robust API integrations.

  • Enable data sharing between SaaS platform and CommBank's AWS data platform

  • Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

  • Lead the implementation and advocacy for reliability and platform engineering principles to improve the reliability and availability of our applications.

  • Oversee the monitoring of system performance and reliability, and proactively identify and address potential issues.

  • Collaborate with Vendor product and operations team to make sure CPS230 is met

  • Develop and maintain advanced automation scripts and tools to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.

  • Perform root cause analysis of critical incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Participate in and lead on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.

  • Continuously improve incident response processes and procedures, setting high standards for the team.

  • Conduct and facilitate post-incident reviews and implement lessons learned to enhance system reliability.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

 

Tech skills 

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team. 

Key Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience integrating a SaaS platform with enterprise systems using Cloud integration patterns ( AWS PrivateLink, API Gateway, direct S3 access), 

  • Experience to address data movement, latency, and security requirements

  • Extensive experience as a Platform Engineer or in a similar role, with a proven track record of leadership.

  • Strong understanding of Platform (on prem, cloud, virtual, containers) principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex issues and exceptional problem-solving skills.

  • Deep knowledge of a wide array of software applications and infrastructure.

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, Splunk, PagerDuty).

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible).

  • Deep technical knowledge in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with SaaS integration to Enterprise systems 

  • Experience building observability solutions with Grafana and Prometheus.

  • Proficiency in using Splunk for log management and analysis.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices.
