Principal Network Test Automation Engineer
Role Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled Python/Robot Framework Developer to join our Network Automation team. The successful candidate will design and implement automation solutions that integrate Robot Framework into CI/CD pipelines, connect automated testing workflows with TestRail, and develop reusable keyword libraries for complex network environments. This role is relevant in driving efficiency, consistency, and scalability across our network validation and testing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipeline Integration:
- Integrate Robot Framework test suites into Git-based CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
- Automate synchronization between Robot Framework and TestRail for test case creation and result reporting.
- Automation Development:
- Develop and maintain a reusable keyword library for Robot Framework to support test engineers.
- Build automation scripts for interacting with:
- Home-grown automation stack - REST API
- Cisco devices (XR and NX platforms)
- Arista switches
- Avocent terminal servers
- Ixia traffic generators
- Apcon Layer 1 optical switches
- Test Management:
- Automate test case generation from TestRail metadata.
- Report test execution results back into TestRail with full traceability.
- Teamwork & Standards:
- Define and carry out guidelines for keyword reuse and script standardization.
- Partner with QA and Network Engineering teams to ensure robust automation coverage.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Chip in to the evolution of automation frameworks and libraries.
- Find opportunities to optimize execution time and improve test coverage.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong proficiency in Python and Robot Framework for test automation.
- Hands-on experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab).
- Familiarity with TestRail or similar test management tools.
- Deep understanding of network technologies and protocols (Cisco XR/NX, Arista, BGP, VXLAN, ISIS, QOS).
- Experience with Linux environments and automation of network validation.
- Knowledge of Ixia, Apcon, and terminal server automation.
- Ability to develop reusable, modular automation libraries and implement coding standards.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Proven experience testing infrastructure and network solutions
- Ability to prioritize and meet critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to develop innovative solutions for complex infrastructure test problems and Production Acceptance Process
- Track record certifying infrastructure products for production deployment
- Develop and maintain network test plans and validate deliveries across multiple device platforms
- Design and implement automation frameworks for network product testing
- Experience working with DevOps CI/CD pipelines
- Experience developing comprehensive test cases covering functional and nonfunctional requirements
- Good understanding of networking technologies: LAN, WAN, data centre, client connectivity and cloud environments
- Understanding of hardware and software lifecycle management
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Strong proficiency in Robot Framework for test automation
- Hands-on experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
- Familiarity with TestRail or similar test management tools
- Deep understanding of network technologies and protocols (Cisco XR/NX, Arista, BGP, VXLAN, ISIS, QoS)
- Knowledge of multicast concepts (IGMP, RP, PIM)
- Familiarity with low-latency technologies used in financial sector
- Exposure to the financial sector and associated technologies
