As a Principal IT Enterprise Architect here at Honeywell, you will serve as a subject matter expert, providing insights into IT architecture planning and strategy. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and our IT architects, you'll play a pivotal role in defining and executing IT architecture strategies aligned with our business objectives. You will report directly to our Director, IT and you’ll work out of our Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

An Enterprise Architect for S/4HANA Integration has to oversee the technical direction for moving from older SAP ECC systems to S/4HANA from integration perspective, ensuring integration efforts uphold security, scalability, and adhere to best practice principles such as a "Clean Core"
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide senior leadership in setting the technical direction for migrating from SAP ECC to S/4HANA, ensuring integration aligns with security, scalability, and "Clean Core" best practices.
- Design and manage the overall integration strategy for S/4HANA migration projects, including defining future-state architectures.
- Make critical decisions on migration approaches such as Greenfield or Brownfield, ensuring all integrations adhere to enterprise-wide standards.
- Develop integration strategies encompassing SAP BTP, external systems, and legacy environments to support hybrid landscapes.
- Lead key architectural choices, including phased transitions, coexistence models, and selection of middleware platforms.
- Establish and maintain standards for interface development in line with SAP best practices.
- Analyze existing ECC customizations and design migration strategies to minimize technical debt.
- Collaborate with business and functional teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Anticipate technical risks, and develop mitigation plans for challenges related to data harmonization, system consolidation, and interdependencies.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in SAP BTP, SAP PI/PO, APIs, OData, and Event Mesh.
- Apply knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or similar, with proven experience in landscape rationalization.
YOU MUST HAVE
- At least 10 years of experience in SAP architecture, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to S/4HANA migration projects.
- Proven experience designing and leading SAP ECC → S/4HANA transformations (greenfield/brownfield/selective data transition).
- Strong understanding of S/4HANA core concepts (digital core, extensibility, clean core approach, integration strategy).
- Strong experience with SAP Integration Suite (CPI) and integration patterns.
- Working knowledge of SAP PI/PO (for legacy estates and migration planning).
- Expertise with SAP integration technologies and protocols: OData, REST, SOAP, RFC, IDoc, EDI, proxy services, file-based integration.
- Ability to define end-to-end enterprise integration architecture across SAP and non-SAP applications (CRM, eCommerce, ERP, PLM, HR, Finance, Data platforms).
- Expertise in integration patterns: canonical model, anti-corruption layer, orchestration vs choreography, sync vs async design.
WE VALUE
- Experience defining enterprise API strategy: API lifecycle, versioning, governance, security, throttling, documentation standards.
- Experience with event-driven architectures (events, queues/streams) and patterns such as pub/sub, saga, outbox (SAP events/enterprise messaging is a plus).
- Strong understanding of microservices integration, service mesh concepts (nice-to-have), and integration best practices in hybrid environments.
- Experience designing secure integrations: OAuth2, SAML, mTLS, certificates, secrets management, least privilege.
- The familiarity with compliance controls and auditability for enterprise integrations (logging, traceability, retention).
- Deep understanding of hybrid and cloud architecture, especially with platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
