Job Description

About the Opportunity

This is a newly created role, reporting to the Director, Early Years. We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) skilled and experienced in Early Childhood Development (ECD) to manage a portfolio of projects aimed at elevating the voices of children and families, advocating for change and raising awareness about the value of the workforce at national, state and community levels.

The primary focus of the role will involve (but not limited to):

  • Partnership mapping and relationship building with various stakeholder groups .
  • Grant and financial management including contract negotiation, and financial tracking of programs of work.
  • Preparation of Board proposals and reporting
  • Provide technical insights to support the co-design initiatives aimed at ensuring that policies and programs respond to the needs of all families and children in Australia
  • Collaborate with research centres/technical partners to generate data and insights to influence change at a national, state and community levels

The Early Years team is based in Perth, WA. However, for the ideal candidate, we are open to considering locations in other states across Australia, if candidates have the ability to travel to Perth regularly. Candidates must also have full working rights in Australia to be considered.

Qualifications

About You

The successful candidate will have strong grants management, research and ECD policy analysis skills. With a deep commitment and passion for early childhood development issues in Australia

  • Strong grants management and project management experience, including budgeting preparation and reporting.
  • Ability to prepare Board papers/proposal and reports
  • Demonstrable experience leading ECD research initiatives including a strong understanding of research methodologies and policy issues in Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience developing advocacy initiatives and/or programs and policies that address the diverse needs of young children and their families.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • High level of commitment and proven ability to problem-solve complex social, economic and or environmental problems and influence change.
  • Bachelor’s degree or tertiary qualification in ECD, Education, Social Policy or a related field. Master’s qualification would be highly regarded.
